jeffrey r
FR OBSO, 11 Yr, 116.4 proof. $50. Considering the higher price of recent barrels, good to see this at $50 still.

Have not opened it yet.wow, great price. KCSB is $48 here so I have yet to try it. I recall liking the SmB I had some months back but at $36 for SmB I haven't really wanted to buy it again recently as there are so many great bourbons under $30 I enjoy. kcgumbohead
Bought another Russell's Reserve Small Batch Single Barrel after liking it so much this past weekend. Anybody here have thoughts on how it compares to Rare Breed? The store select I have as well as recent samples at WT have the RR rated far above the RB in my book, and I like RB!! dSculptor
I had a show in Deerfield Il. this weekend which turned out to be a disaster. Got there on Friday stopped and picked me up some Bt, and had the air cond. on, then on Sat. we were in winter clothing! raining, the show was cancelled around 1 pm, weather absolutely sucked.. So we packed up and headed back to the hotel, but stopped and picked me up some Blanton's that I had spied the day before, they had about 6 bottles of the stuff @ $58.99. Had me a bunch of pours of the stuff, which has been quite awhile since I had it, damn good stuff! Sunday weather was still cold, but not raining, no one buying, just walking their dogs, I never saw so many dogs at an art show!
trufunk
Bought this today. Anyone know what the numbers mean?
jasmorg1075
I think the numbers mean what barrel, what row and what Rick the barrel was on. So barrel number 83, row 2, Rick V. Please correct me if I'm wrong, going off memory from what I read somewhere.

trufunk
Thanks Tucker and jasmorg1075 hope this is good! I don't see an age statement any idea? Edited June 2, 2015 by trufunk
PaulO
In practical terms, if you really like that bottle, go back and buy a few more with those exact same numbers.
jeffrey r
Thanks Tucker and jasmorg1075 hope this is good! I don't see an age statement any idea?General thought is about 9 years for the standard FRSB. I'll cut and paste a response I had received from FR recently when I inquired about two excellent barrels of the standard OBSV that I had picked up (for reference below: barrels GW 55-3L and GW 55-3M)."The bottles you have were aged in the west side of G warehouse. Our warehouses are unique in the industry in that they are single story rack warehouses – versus the traditional multi-story warehouses. We do this to achieve more consistency in the maturation process. The temperature differential in multi-story warehouses can vary greater than 35 degrees F. and the barrels on the top floors age much quicker than those stored on the lower floors. Via the single story warehouses we reduced the differential to 6 to 8 degrees, and barrels are racked 6 tiers high. Each warehouse sits on nearly an acre of ground and each is separated into halves – E/W or N/S. Each side of the warehouse has 90 ricks – 45 ricks on each side of the aisle. The bottles you have were stored in barrels the entire time they were aging in the 55th rick, in the 3rd tier. “L†and “M†are the 12th and 13th letters in the alphabet and that’s how deep into the rick the barrels sat for nearly 9 years of aging." dboland
Thanks Tucker and jasmorg1075 hope this is good! I don't see an age statement any idea?I have usually found the age statement on those on the side of the bottle along with the mash.
jeffrey r
I have usually found the age statement on those on the side of the bottle along with the mash. Those are Private Selections. Trufunk's bottle is the standard Single Barrel, and hence, NAS.
petrel800
I have usually found the age statement on those on the side of the bottle along with the mash. The standard 4RSB is always OBSV and has no age statement. Private selections will typically list the age, but the content of that sticker is up to the selector.
