gohrmund
I was out golfing today and stopped at a liquor that is different than any in my area. The had MMCS probably about a case of them. They also had some BT experimental 2014 floor 1. They had a case but said they are all the same. My understanding is that all 3 releases came in the case.Anyway are the any good? I usually don't bunker much, but this is the first I have seen of these. Any thoughts for a newbie?Gary
Harry in WashDC
Dear Gohrmund -Welcome to SB. This is a great place to ferret out information. I'm not a fan of (although I never turn down an offer of) MM. BUT, I do recall a currently active thread discussing it and MMCS. I don't read it for the reason I just stated but recommend you pull it up and read it as SBers who love/hate MM and MMCS are forthcoming. RE: the BTAC -- I drink lots of basic BT (addicted to its candy apple/cinnamon notwithstanding it's only 90 proof) but am not enamored of (and too lazy to chase, truth be told) experimental editions of anything (graphic novels, cars, liqueurs, etc., let alone whiskey; too much readily availables out there IMnotsoHO) to pay attention. I know the BTAC fans have several threads recently finished and currently going on this. Try out that "Search" button in the upper right. I know from experience it sometimes turns up gems. Enjoy. Chris m
Don't buy for perceived value, buy to enjoy. (Which means drinking it).
DBM
I don't ever bunker for the potential monetary value, but I do enjoy stashing away bottles of stuff I know I can enjoy if it should ever be discontinued, changed or become cost prohibitively expensive. It would make sense that MMCS will stick around and become generally available, but I stashed a few bottles just in case it disappears and I want to have some in 2025. BTEC doesn't interest me unless there is a specific quality that I beleive I will like about that release, and there's no reason to bunker it, the whole point is to try something experimental. kjbeggs
MMCS should be available in 750s fairly soon, hopefully at a better price point than the 375s.Buy a 375 or two, and see if you like it, but I wouldn't bunker it in that size myself. PaulO
Mostly I would say only bunker things that you have tasted and really like. No sense hoarding something to say I don't like it, but it's rare. MMCS - depends on the price. The BT Experiments have reviews all over the place. I'd be very cautious about buying more than one, unless you had already tried it. kjbeggs
IMO if they do go to the 750ml bottles and discontinue the 375ml I could see that there would be increased value of those bottles over time. That could be true, but I was coming at it from the standpoint of Bunkering to drink later, where (hopefully) the better value will be in the 750s. Reminded her that, although we love it, there will never, ever be any more in our house. Meanwhile, we have plenty of bourbon that is replaceable. We'll get around to drinking the AAA--just not yet. I'm against sending producers the message that it's OK to sell little bottles at big bottle prices in the first place.

You'll likely find yourself on thin ice around here if you're buying with investment or secondary market selling in mind.

Knowing and tracking secondary market prices is important when making trades.

Life is too short and enjoying it sparingly, is a whole lot better, than may be not at all. Enjoy the best that you have!
