Dear Steve,

I 'like' Angel's Envy. It's a nice pour (both bourbon and rye), but there are too many other pretty girls in school for me to make her a steady.

Given the price of admission, It's just too low proof, smooth and soft to pay for the finishing when comparing it to others. I guess what I'm trying to say is... I'd rather have a standard house profile and then do the dolling up, if any, myself.:grin:

I also prefer barn yard over ginger bread in my rye's!

I do wish them the best with their new partners.

Hope this helps,

Paddy

Hahaha......that was good. Well said Paddy. Your point about the price of admission is why I haven't gone back to the bourbon and why I've yet to try the rye.

I'm going to go over to DBM's house and try his so I don't have to plunk down full bottle price. I'll bring my Blanton's SFTB with me which I know he likes so it's a win for everyone.

I hope this means more of the rye finished in rum barrels. I am pretty sure one of the primary reasons that my wife has not left me is that she does not know where I have all of the AE rye hidden.

While not my favorite, I enjoy AE, and have had some good store select stuff. It may, however, be my wife's favorite bourbon.

Looks like a big week for Bacardi. They just bought a stake in Compass Box today. I'll be interested to see if that opens some supply doors for them.

The Rye was so sweet I could barely drink it, but I thought the Bourbon was solid, if overpriced. This news makes me even less interested in the whole thing.

Should interesting. Although not a rum fan, before we know, we'll start seeing Baccardi finished in AE bourbon/rye barrels.

Kinda like how Expresiones del Corazon does with some of the BTAC and Van Winkle barrels. Saw them in a store once, some expensive rum.

I currently have a bottle of the Cask Strength and can't even drink the stuff because the port finish is so strong......sighhhhh.......don't make me buy another bottle of this.

The port finish can never be too strong! Of course it helps to like port...

When I talked to Wes last month I believe he said they will be bottling another batch of the rum cask rye soon. So I don't think there is much risk of it going away anytime soon.

that's good to know, but again, that price needs to come down...

Don't see that happening anytime soon!

I don't know what AE's US distribution map looks like, but if they signed up with smaller distributors who typically have higher margins, the change of ownership to Bacardi might eventually allow for lower prices through existing Bacardi contracts.

Were you out looking for the Easter Bunny this morning? LOL

More likely: no change in prices but higher margins!
