Wanted to share a great bourbon experience I had this past weekend. A couple months ago, I heard about the first annual Bacon and Bourbon Festival in Delray Beach, Fl. I looked into it and planned an early birthday trip with my wife.

Fast forward to Friday afternoon. We stop for dinner at a restaurant on the way down I heard had a great whiskey selection. It did have a great, selection, but the ones I really wanted to try were pretty out there in price. Regardless I enjoyed my first ever pours of Henry Mckenna 10yr SB, HW Bourye, and Abraham Bowman "Last Millennium". That last one was overpriced, but I'm glad I tried it.

Saturday, we stop by the Festival and I get to have my first ever pours of GTS and Handy at very reasonable prices. Later in the evening we had our first tasting. The line up was EHT SB, FR SmB, Breckenridge, Baby Saz, ETL, and at the last minute they threw in some Stagg Jr. The guys hosting the tasting had obviously been sampling throughout the day and were having a great time. All of the pours were at least 1 1/2-2 ounces. This was actually a bit too much for me especially since I was drinking a portion of my wife's too. I had to dump out a little of my lesser favorites like the Breckenridge.

Sunday afternoon we had our second tasting. This lineup was EHT SmB, Eagle Rare, Handy, and GTS. These pours were not quite as huge, but still very generous especially considering the two BTACs.

All in all a great time. Tasted a lot, learned a lot. I definitely recommend if anyone has an opportunity to go next year.

Sounds like a great weekend. Congrats and Happy Birthday (Early I guess). I didn't realize they would have BTAC at those things, there are a few I would like to try. Good to know.

I was talking to the state manager for BT, and he was pretty shocked they had several bottles of both GTS and Handy. They also had one tasting where they went through the whole line of Pappy, but there were only 20 spots, and it sold out before I heard about the event.

We didn't partake as much in the bacon as I expected. We ended up eating some great food at local restaurants.
