Just 6 bottles of bourbon (five of which are 4R) open right now.

I've got 12 bottles of American whiskey open right now, 1 Irish, 1 Japanese, and 4 bottles of Scotch. Gotta have the right one for the right mood, after all.

Probably 10 bottles of Scotch, 10 bottles of Bourbon, and 2 bottles of Rum. I have been using Private Preserve after a bottle has been open for a month or two. Not sure if it actually works, but I've noticed no degradation of quality. With that said, there are bottles that I am less enthused with, and those bottles usually go towards cocktails, or are "featured" bottles for house parties. Better than dumping down the sink!

Take it to a party and leave it there.

I've either given them away and even poured some really bad ones down the drain.

Thats a nice line up!

I've got 43 open at the moment. A few have been open over 2 years but I havent noticed any change in flavor.

Here are most of my opens. The rest wouldn't fit in the pic.

70ish probably. I have a few open bottles of malt I keep out of random reach.

Wow...and I was worried about having a dozen bottles open at one time!

In fact I even posted elsewhere that I was going to initiate a new protocol.

I will finish at least one open bottle before opening any new ones....hmmm

I have noticed that some of my whisk(e)y has improved in the bottle.

Not all of them mind you, but at least one or two of them.

Cheers! -BE

Before I get into this, and for those that didn't already know, I have a BT bottle glorifier that holds 12 bottles. In order to keep my open bottles at a manageable level, I try to limit my open bottles to what will fit in my bottle glorifier. Savvy? ;)

So, as they say, out with the old, and in with the new. In the past few weeks, I've finished off quite a few bottles. In pondering what to open next, I noticed that the only non-BT offering I still had open was a JB BIB. I decided to put the JB BIB away for now since I'm still having a hard time figuring it out. That left me with a Weller 12, Weller SR and a dusty 86 proof AA open. Hmmmmmm. The last time my number of open bottles had dwindled this low, I had planned on doing a "Wheatermania". Open all wheaters. That never materialized because I made some purchases that I really wanted to try, and just had to open them. You know what they say, "The best laid plans of mice and men." :skep:

Fast forward. "Wheatermania" has been put on hold and replaced by "BTmania". BT is my favorite distillery, so I decided to go with all BT offerings. I now have, or am in the process of opening all BT stuff. I just popped the cork on an ER 10 tonight to start things off. Below are a couple of pics.

Pic #1, left to right.

Stagg Jr Batch #3

Weller 12, embossed wheat. Thanks Gary

PS OWA

Weller SR, since decanted into my empty Centennial

2012 BTAC WLW

ER 10 SB- 10 year old on back label

Colonel E.H. Taylor Single Barrel

Dusty, tax stamped 86 proof AA, since decanted into an empty bottle of ETL

AA BIB

ETL

BT- decanted from a 1.75

Blanton's

Pic #2, almost everything in my BT bottle glorifier. My BT bottle glorifier was meant to hold six narrow bottle, and six wide bottles. Even though I decanted a few things into smaller bottles, I had to make some minor adjustments in order to take a picture.

Cheers y'all!

Joe

Firstly, I now realize my bourbon collection suffers from lack of glorification.

There was a secondly, but I've forgotten it now.

Just 1, Bookers!

And it's the most fantastic Bourbon I have ever had so far because we are limited on our selection here. Cost me $70.

Even with a much wider selection, Booker's is pretty fantastic.

And it's a heavy hitter, Can creep up on you pretty quick if you're not careful.

It reminds me a bit of KCSB.

I made a vow that I'd only open a new one after I finished off a bottle. Just a guess, but I probably had about 35-40 open bottles at the time. Now I have at least 60, counting ryes - probably more. So much for that vow.

At least I'm not buying them faster than I'm drinking them anymore. Oh wait . . . I still am.

I know what you mean Tony. One step forward, two steps back.

Welllllllll, B, those are some mighty fine choices. If one is going to edit down the available pours, I'd say you're doing about as good as one can do.

I'm finding it REALLY tough to work the open stash down into single digits. I've been hovering around the 11-12 bottle count (between American, single malt, and blends) for 6+ months now. Every time I kill one, another mid-shelfer like a FR PS somehow ends up replacing itself immediately.

What I would really like to end up with is - 4 bottles total. 1 American top-shelf, 1 American bottom-shelf, 1 single malt/blend top-shelf, and 1 single malt/blend bottom-shelf. Apparently this will be my toughest challenge ;).
