johnnyflake45
I'll be out looking again tomorrow. I'd like to pick up a few new bottles of Bourbon. I prefer Wheated Bourbons but Regular Bourbon is fine. Which 3, normally available, with some searching, would you pick up. Price cap, about $70 or less per bottle? Special Reserve
I'd get a handle of OWA, a Blanton's, and a 4RSB barrel strength if they have it and have some change left over. Of course, I'd get 6 Weller Centennial at $35 each if I could find them. (Don't worry, you won't be able to find them.)Good luck, Will
johnnyoski
Based on that flavor profile, OWA, RHF and MMCS if you can find it.
garbanzobean
Personally? Henry McKenna 10 single barrel bottled in bond, Four Roses Single Barrel (or Yellow Label if the Single barrel is more than $30-$35 where you live), and Larceny. The first two are rye mashbill bourbons, though.
ccleve23
If it were me I would go with OWA, handle of old Fitz bib and ec12
emr454
Personally I'd get a handle of BT, Larceny, and OGD BIB.
HOF44
Two that pop to my kind are McKenna 10 BIB and Bookers.
Richnimrod
Handle of Larceny, Handle of OWA, and a 750 of Old Fitz BIB, if you can find those. $70 should just about pay for all of 'em (depending upon where you're shopping, of course).
Grain Belt
Blanton's, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel, 1.75 of EC2.
393foureyedfox
Booker's, Dickel 9 year 103 proof, and a 7-8 year barrel proof SAOS in either the bourbon or the rye. All are $45-50 here, each
ken_mays
Booker's, EC 12, SAOS
squire
From what's available today I would choose Rock Hill Farms, Four Roses Small Batch and Old Grand Dad 114.
Flyfish
Price cap, about $70 or less per bottle?Point of clarification: Did you really mean that "per bottle" part? You can get some really nice pours for $70 a bottle or a total price of about $200. For example, PHC Wheated and Wm. Larue Weller for about $80 each plus a handle of OWA. If you meant a total of $70, you could get OWA, Larceny, and ETL.
TunnelTiger
For me a bottle of EWBIB, OGDBIB, and JBBIB. Total out the door here would be less than $60.
Spade
I think many bottles that are $70 (or close to it) and readily available aren't necessarily worth it. More specifically, there's so much great bourbon at $35 and less that I often have a hard time justifying the cost of more expensive stuff. So, my advice would be to try to pick up at least one bottle in the $20-$40 price range. A bunch of great ones in that range have already been mentioned in this thread. If you're looking to spend a little more and come across a barrel proof FRSB, chances are you won't be disappointed.

I'd love to find a bottle of W Larue Weller and/or the PHC Wheated, but there have been none in my area for a long time.

I'd love to find a bottle of MM CS, but none in my area for a while now.
johnnyflake45
Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate your thoughts. Sadly I will not be able to hunt today, as planned, more important matters have developed. I'll need to wait until tomorrow or may be even Wednesday. Oh Well! There aren't a lot readily available so presumably you've had them all, but if not I'd suggest Weller 12, Larceny, and Makers. Similar price points and proof, and you can compare and contrast them. You won't spend nearly $70 per bottle so pocket the savings until you after you do side-by-sides with them all, and then explore other offerings by the distillery of the one you liked the most. I also have about 8 combined bottles of Weller 12 and the Antique, in my Bunker. I love them both! I have not had any of the Fitz offerings yet. DonutsNBourbon
I'm personally enjoying CEHT SmB now, FRSB is always a good choice (especially if you can get the store selects that are barrel proof) and for a third choice... I'd say Booker's or Blanton's. I know, no wheaters there, but it looks like you got them covered for the most part already.
