My options, depending on what parameters one wants to impose on the question . . .

If I were trying to maximize my purchasing power by getting as much as possible of a good variety of bourbon I really like to drink, I think with a little shopping I could find an EC12, ER10, 4RSmB and an OWA within that budget. If not, I'd substitute an OGD114 for one of the pricier ones and call it a day.

Putting practical considerations aside, like someone posted before me, if I could actually find a George T. Stagg on the shelf for MSRP, I'd go that route.

If it were just mad money I found on the street and I wanted to spend it in a way I might not do so if I were being more cost conscious, I know a place where I can get a private selection Smooth Ambler 8 year for $42. Excellent bourbon, and as a store pick single barrel, once it's gone it's gone. I'd buy two of those for the bunker, feeling more sanguine about drinking the one I already have open. With the extra I'd buy a .375 of the JB BIB (if such a thing exists) just to give it a fairer shot - the one time I had a fairly small drink of it I was less than impressed, but with my own bottle of the BotM I could give it a decent chance I might not give it if I didn't have the "found money" opportunity.

If I were starting from scratch I'd get WT101 ($26), OFSig($24), and JBBiB($28). All are bourbons I've really come to enjoy, have a good range of flavors, and are a good value. If I had enough left over I'd hop the border and pick up some OFBiB($18) for a wheated representative.

FRSB, 35

EC12, 30

Larceny, 22

Whatever I can scrape up for $13 or a pint of something good. If I can get any of the above bottles cheaper, I'd probably go for EWBiB or J.W. Dant.

Brands that just missed the cut:

OldFitzBiB (whenever I can find it)

OGDBiB

BT

ER10

Well I have a Benjamin to spend on some new bourbon to try. I'm curious to see what others would suggest, or get. My inspiration comes from this post on Modern Thirst:

http://modernthirst.com/2015/04/23/if-i-had-a-benjamin/

Here's my list of :

Four roses single barrel $40

Rittenhouse Rye BIB $25

EC 12 year $30

if you have not had those before, it's a great start.
