I had some a while ago. Preferable to Crown Royal (basic) by a small margin. A smidge more rye...

I can't speak to that particular batch, but I have always been underwhelmed by the CC Classic expression. I prefer the 100 proof CC or the 10 y/o reserve. The Classic is actually a different mashbill from the standard CC expressions, IIRC.

Can't comment on that particular batch but I really like this as a budget whisky. It is versatile; not as robust as a bourbon, to be sure, but just enough complexity to drink straight or on ice. Also makes a sublime rye & ginger.
