Paddy
So how does Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey fit into this discussion? It is the most expensive of the three. Since I enjoy Wild Turkey 101, I thought I try some of their other offerings. What PaulO said! It's a smooth pour, but lacking any real punch. I'd rate it behind both the WTRB and RRSB (especially a store pick).
BourbonGuy
I had Rare Breed at WhiskeyFest and really enjoyed it. But the bottle I purchased was good, but not that much better than 101 to justify the price difference. Some time ago, I tasted a Russell's reserve and thinking of trying a bottle, I wasn't sure which one I tried so I am was looking for the collective wisdom shared here. PaulO
A number of years ago, when I was trying everything, I tried RR 90 proof bourbon and RR 90 proof rye. I thought the RR rye was not as good as the contemporary WT 101 rye. The RR 90 bourbon was just sort of generic and bland. Neither were bad, just not something very interesting to me. The dusty RR 101 got rave reviews, but I never found one.
Workman
Both are excellent, but I prefer the 10 Year Old Small Batch. I found it to have more of the caramel and vanilla flavors I enjoy.
Renegator
I used to be able to get the small batch for $23.99. The single barrel has always been around $50.
