grantsi
I just purchased a new ( 20 year old ) home about 1 mile north of downtown Chicago. It needs some major cosmetic help to make it livable. My wine and spirits also need a new home. There is a wall under my stairs to the basement that measures 113" long...I've been given free reign to design an area that will hold my eurocave wine cellar and a dedicated whiskey area. I'd love to see some "under stairs storage area" pictures people have. I have approx 80 bottles I want to store ( plus the wine ). The area is approx 34" deep and 7ft tall. Thanks in advance. mark fleetwood
When we lived in Cinti and I was just getting started, I too stored under the steps leading down to the basement. I probably knocked my head on the steps a half dozen times in 3-4 years and each time it hurt sooooo much I swore that when the chance presented itself to store in a better place I would. We had to move (for job) and I built a shelving unit in the new basement (3 mo before the wife and kids could join me) and haven't regretted leaving that dismal, medieval, skull-cracking space. Best of luck but here's wishing that you could display in a more open spot.
