Shot Bar Bourbon (Tokyo) - Pictures

When I first came to Tokyo and tried to find places to drink bourbon, I kept coming across the same place in my searches: Shot Bar Bourbon. When I eventually tried to find it, all I found was a locked door on the second floor of a nondescript building in Ginza. It turns out that it had closed in 2010.

Later I found the bars website which has lots of great pictures of their "bourbon of the day." For the most part, these were not your regular pours. Some examples include Wild Turkey Signature, A.H. Hirsch 16 Year and I.W. Harper from the 1960s.

Anyway, I thought you all might be interested in some of the weird bottles that were available. The site is in Japanese, but you can click on the page numbers at the bottom or top of the page to go through the pictures.

Did you ever find a bar? I remember always coming across a place in Shibuya in my searches. Supposed to have an amazing beer & bourbon selection. Haven't had a chance to visit it though, I always end up at the night clubs instead.

I never found anywhere in Tokyo that seems to rival this bar (based on the pictures). There is place called Cask that has a good (though small) selection of bourbon, but its very expensive. Mostly, really good bars will often have one or two interesting bourbons like older WT, S-W or VW bottlings.

The place that you mentioned in Shibuya is called Craftheads and its got a pretty good selection itself.

I really wonder what happened to all that stock. . .

Craftheads. Owned by a half American/Japanese bloke. Decent bar. He has one in Yokohama too.

One side of the bar is bourbon, the other side is scotch.

I was clicking though the pictures again today and it seems like 10/17/2008 would have been a pretty good day to grab a seat at this place.

The specials that day were GTS, TH, two vintages of WL Weller, a WFE 24 year and AH Hirsch 16y and 20y.

I actually have not been there yet but read about it. I didn't have time the last time I went to Japan.

Geez. Just noticed I quoted the wrong post! Next time I'm in Osaka I'll check it out.
