PaulO
There is a serious article/book waiting to be written about the madness surrounding limited releases of alcohol. I truly believe there's some deep psychological element at play, either way it's a peculiar dance of economics...

BourbonGuy
To the original post - Lew was right . . . sorta. People on THIS BOARD were poking fun about the Diageo bottlings not being so limited. Now that could be misinterpreted - I think it wasn't because we WANTED there to be fewer of them, but rather we were venting about the false premise and the over-hype of calling them "limited" when you could hardly walk into a store that didn't have them in stock. Richnimrod
Interesting. I took it as it was labeled "limited". So the non-drinking flippers snapped up tons, only to find they may have to sell it at cost.
mosugoji64
Some of us don't have blogs, and have to be envious of others [emoji38] While shameless plugging whenever they do a guest write-up on them too To the original post - Lew was right . . . sorta. The market is just crazy right now. Do more people like bourbon? Sure - but there is a growing number of people who are simply investing in stuff they see appreciating at an unreasonable rate. I saw some guy post how he wants to try a bottle he paid $1,600 for . . . except he can't stand the thought of "losing that much" - so he wanted to divy it up and basically sell samples. What I found ironic is that he is one of the few who is paying the ridiculous prices who actually even CONSIDERED the thought of opening it! Those of us who would want to drink it - likely wouldn't spend that kinda cheese on a bottle because we know we can find a LOT of really nice whiskey for a whole lot less. We're such a small group, that I don't know that we can do much about this craziness, other than hope it passes so we can pick up our FR SmBLE without feeling like we have to win the lottery to score a bottle. I wouldn't lay out that kinda cheese for a bottle UNLESS it was from a NDP. Then I wouldn't know I had been ripped off until AFTER I drank it.
