petrel800
Another one of my go to bourbons to put out is Kirkland Bourbon. 1L is roughly $20. It's age stated at 7 years. 107 proof. Sourced from Beam, I find it similar to Knob Creek in profile. Typically when I put it out I decant it just so folks don't turn up their nose because of a label. Most are shocked when I tell them what it is . . .
bourbonfoot
I don't mind spending a few bucks extra in these kinds of situations. I like 4RSmB or EC12 (I know some can't get these for under $30). Worst case scenario you have a great sipper for you all night, and leave it there and your friend maybe gets the bourbon bug? Best case everybody loves it. jwes1776
Thanks for the advice! I did a little tasting and have decided to take a BT for the group, and to use the occaision as an excuse to try either the 4RYL or the OF 86. I'm due to try a budget bourbon anyway after snagging a 4RSmB and a SAOS 7Y Rye last time out:-)
squire
BT is a good choice, as are the other two. I think I would advance Four Roses Yellow to the top of the try next list.
Quintilian
Like other folks, I'd go with BT, FRYL, EWBiB, VOB (whatever proof you want to bring), Old Forester 86 or Sig, or OGDBiB.
Golzee
OF Signature IMO would be a very good choice. I like it neat, on the rocks, or with a coke. It is very versatile and it won't break the bank.
