Blade And Bow Bourbon????

I've seen ads for this a few times now and don't recall any discussion on the board about it. MODS: If there has been and I've somehow missed it, please excuse the new thread and delete it.

The ads tout the fact that 'Blade and Bow KY Straight Bourbon Whiskey' uses 'the solera method' for aging, and includes "the last remaining bourbon ever distilled at Stitzel-Weller". ...As if that automatically confers some elite status. It seems to be sold in a kind of squared off bottle, @ 91-proof, with a round label and a skeleton key attached around the neck, if the pic is accurate. It's sold by 'Stitzel-Weller' Distilling Co., Louisville, KY.

Anyone have any knowledge to share? Taste? Price? Availability?

You should also check out the "What Bourbon Did You Pass Up Today Spring Summer 2015?" thread Rich. The posts are back a page or two, but Gary and I posted about tasting the 22 yr old during the Sampler. Gary also posted a picture.

I just rec'd an email saying that the store has it and it is...."Flying off the shelves" at $55. That I should "grab one before it is gone!"

It also mentions: "Each variant offers a completely unique experience that pays homage to this storied distillery and welcomes a new generation to the art of bourbon making that was perfected within these walls". It does not mention S/W by name.

If it was S/W distilled, I would try it. But it was probably just aged at the old distillery. Did anyone try it and post notes?

Not much on here about the Blade and Bow 22 years other than Joe's brief tasting notes so now I'm almost finished with the first bottle and have to say I do like it too. As always, my taste matches Joe. It has a nice nose of caramel and vanilla with a nice rounded and fairly complex taste and a decent finish. There is citrus and fruitiness. Good and control wood throughout but not at all overpowering.

Surprisingly pretty good to my taste.

It sounds pretty good from your notes. Would you say it's worth the price?

That's tough to answer actually.

For example, I'll be just as happy drinking the SB Blend or the ECBP. But I'm also A ok with paying the price for this one and pleasantly surprised I like it.

Thanks for the tasting notes tiger. I passed on it at $150 a few months ago and haven't seen any since.

I did not get a chance to taste the Blade and Bow 22, but at $150, a bit of a reach unless I taste it first. I did get a chance to taste the Blade and Bow at a tasting the local store held. I found it fruity and quite nice. But not the ideal spot to taste. They lowered the price from $55 to $48 and I may but buy one to taste at home.

I pulled the trigger. I enjoy the aroma and flavor I can only describe as fruity. For $48, I have done worse.
