Some time back, citizens here finally decided we were tired of paying all that tax money to surrounding cities.

Take up was a bit slow, but we are seeing some stores here, finally - a few mom and pop stores, a small Specs on the west side of town, a larger Specs in the old Barnes & Noble building on the south side, a Total Wine & More on the far south end.

Still, my very favorite is the mid-sized family-owned Liq-o-Rama that I always went out of my way to visit. They just seem to have exactly the bourbons I like best.

I'm also wondering when the shakeout will happen, and the number of stores stabilizes.

Expect that any liquor store near a specs and total wine to go out of business.

...and an increasing amount of their allocations to bypass us consumers and go directly to bars and restaurants.

I was staying in Arlington several years ago and we couldn't buy wine at the grocery store. They acted like I was asking them where to buy pot. So we headed toward Ft. worth on I30 and suddenly came up on mega-stores. Must have been when we left the city limits.....really stocked up.

Yes, but they did put Centennial out of business. I'll take fair prices any day over that kind of robbery. Good riddance!
