Jazzhead
My wife got me a bottle of Calumet Farm for our anniversary, bless her heart. It's a beautiful bottle, and I bet a lot of this stuff gets purchased as gifts. There's really no telling exactly what this is, and it's sold as a premium bottle. It's from Western Spirits, who also, it appears, bottles and sells Lexington bourbon and flavored bourbon under the Bird Dog name. They're in the Pennsy state stores, but I've seen their brands elsewhere. This is sourced whiskey, with not a clue disclosed on the label other than it's a "product of Kentucky", which I suppose rules out MGD-sourced bourbon. It has the peppery, dry, strawish taste of Barton's whiskey, and I compared it side by side with a dusty 80s-era bottle of Ten High. They're very similar, although the Calumet shows more age than the TH, which I assume is but a four-year old. It's perfectly drinkable, and if you like Ridgemont Reserve, which I do, here's something like it, in a similar perfume-style bottle and about a ten dollar price premium. JvW
I purchased this product about 2 months ago and regret having spent $55 for the bottle. I get the Ridgemont for $25 locally (which I really enjoy) and a much better product in my opinion.
Richnimrod
I have heard and do believe this rumor....There's an actual piece of a thoroughbred racehorse in each and every bottle. Not a big piece, of course; but a small one.Is this true????

squire
I heard it was the special Limestone water processed through a Thoroughbred.
callmeox
The Lexington salesman told me that they sourced their bourbon from Barton when I asked him at a tasting in Bardstown 2 years ago. Your mileage and the bulk market may vary.

squire
But, but, it has to be good 'cause it costs almost $50.00 and the bottle is so pretty.
