Luckily for me, EWSB doesn't do much for me. Otherwise, I'd be wringing my hands over the continuing lessening of the age on this as they struggle to keep it on shelves.

Not sure what their endgame is here. Once you start down that road (and keep going, thereby digging yourself a deeper hole with each passing release), how in the world do you ever catch back up? Hopefully they know that they have ample stock aging to catch up down the road. If not, it's going to keep getting younger until they reach the point they have to discontinue it for a while.

Agreed. Leave the age statement. Leave it aged the way it was and just let it get rarer. Not every store needs to have 10 bottles on the shelf. If you narrow it to 3 or 4, you're still fine.

Well, now that they are not bound by the usual [approximately] 10 year standard for EWSB, they can pick for "profile" and choose 8 year barrels that, um, will taste as good as the 10 year barrels that they always used to pick.  Sarcasm alert.  Seriously though, based upon the lackluster reviews of the 2006 release, and apparently going even younger now, HH really does run the risk of tarnishing what was traditionally a very highly regarded release.  I know they are in a bind (if you can call it that, where demand outpaces supply), but not sure that their solution is the best solution.  We shall see, but I won't be buying any of this younger stuff.

As most know Canadian prices are bogus when it comes to alcohol generally being about $10 to $50 more expensive than the US depending on the bottle but for some strange reason EWSB is 200% more expensive than it is in the States (and this was before the CAD coin dropped so low). If this was priced where you lived for $100 would you still buy it? I see nothing but great reviews for EWSB buy I can get myself to pay.

SebLloyd - My short answer is: @ 86.6 proof and US$28 plus tax per 750, I see it everywhere and don't dislike it but usually pass; other things I like better are cheaper so . . .

It is tough to pick EWSB over something like HMCKBIB for the same price.

The Henry McKenna 10BiB is averaging $35 here, while the EWSB is around $24.  EC12 is on sale once a month here for $23.  I like them all, but the EC12 is hard to beat.  I'm going to start comparing the 2006 barrels of the EWSB, as I've been gifted two bottles so far this Christmas.

If anybody is looking for 2004 bottles, there are about 70 bottles in the showcase windows of the Vitascope Hall Bar at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans; Not sure if they sell any bottles though.

Damn!  2004 was an excellent vintage and I cannot find it anymore up here.  I wonder if they are indeed selling them, as they appear to be specially bottled for the establishment.  Perhaps a phone call is in order...
