What bourbon are you enjoying? Summer 2015!

There may be better bourbons out there, but, RR10yr IMO tastes how I think bourbon should taste. It is smooth, flavorful, and balanced.

The old timers here will recall the TV show Twin Peaks and that cafe where Agent Cooper would drink that "damn fine cup of coffee" while savoring a piece of cherry pie.

Well, that cafe is a real place not far from here and they make a fantastic cherry pie which I was gifted for my birthday (a whole pie even!) and I'm here to tell you that KCSB is a fine compliment to said cherry pie. So much so that I had two pours of it.

Back in Canada eh for another week eh, but at a new hotel eh. So that means a new limited choice of pours. I only saw JD, MM, and Bulleit last night so I went with the latter.

Rode the Harley up through NW GA dusty hunting. Struck out completely, so decided to crack open one of the 2004 Austin Nichols Wild Turkey 101 pints I found last week. It's not bad....but not one of my Top 10s...

Last night I had a big pour of some 60s Old Crow 86 6-year old. Man that was good. I planned to move on to other things, but the Crow finished me off for the night. Drinking out of a tumbler as opposed to a dainty Glencairn is dangerous since it makes more seem like less. About an inch in the bottom of the tumbler and it was over for me. Oh I suppose it might have to do with being dog tired and sleep deprived as well...

Dug a bit deeper into the GD9, an acquired taste this one but I've aquired it. A splash of water and its a fine pour with a strong root beer personality and somehow even accomplishes a fizziness that completes the soda theme. It sure is unique and has turned into a favored alternate pour.

Last night, my neighbor offered me a pour of Woodford Reserve. I believe it was the standard offering. What am I going to do, turn it down? :grin:

I have never had it before as I have, in the past, avoided it based on what I've read and the price. To me last night, the nose was overwhelmingly cherry, artificial cherry like a Ludens cherry cough drop. The taste was similar. I did not enjoy it and am glad I have avoided it. My neighbor actually didn't enjoy it either. So we went on to drink some OGD 114 instead and we were both happy.

Well, after a pour or two of the older WT101, decided I wanted something else. Looking at opens realized I had a Store Select Russel Reserve 110 proofer from J's bottle shop in Athens and a Russel Reserve 10 YO. Tried a pour from each. Liked the SB at 110, but can really tell the difference the age on the 10 YO makes to the juice.

Up early, 9 hours in the car with a meeting squeezed in the middle, and now putting the fire out of my arse with a steep pour of a GBS ECBP.

BTW, it is NEVER in your best interest to be transitioning from I-85 South to the top end Perimeter heading West at 5:00 PM when a thunderstorm breaks out, and you're trying to get back to East of the Big Chicken ! You. Are. F$!?!D !!!!
