OldDrinker1978
Yessir. Invented here at Straightbourbon some years ago. Later, someone co-opted the idea and trying to ride the hysteria of the Pappyz Craze on their blog, called it the poor mans pappy. The sad point is that they totally missed the idea. The SB Blend is really an attempt to replicate Weller Centennial, not Pappy. Thanks for clearing that up!
unclebunk
That be the SB Blend, and I'm enjoying one now, myself! :yum:Dang, Joe. I'd be enjoying one too...if I could ever find another bottle of Weller 12. It's been years now![emoji20]
unclebunk
Last night I finished off a bottle of OFSig (my new everyday pour) and went poking around in the cabinet and pulled out an unopened bottle of Charter 101 which I'm guessing I purchased over five years ago. I've always loved the shape of that bottle and the embossed glass which makes it look old fashioned. Anyway, I cracked it open and really loved it. I remember paying peanuts for it and my expectations were low but it has a very nice flavor, not unlike Mellow Corn with a little something extra. Must be the very low rye mashbill. Check it out with a tiny drop of water or an ice cube on a hot day. Excellent!
TunnelTiger
Rained all night and much of this morning resulting in me sleeping late but enjoying an extra amount of OGDBIB in me coffee on the back porch.
BigRich
Last I was at a wedding and the selections for whiskey included JD, Kirkland's bourbon and Kirkland's Canadian. I relieved the bar of a fair amount of that Kirkland's bourbon.

Did both the 1:1 and the 60 OWA/40 W12.
OldDrinker1978
I just made a blend 50:50 of VSO Fitzgerald 12 and OWA and let it sit for an hour - I like this a lot! Very similiar to the SB Blend but more of a coco thing going on and less cigar box. Awesome!
Phil T
Spent most of the day being productive around the house. Now just a little chill before dinner...and a bit of HHBIB, refigerated of course
Vosgar
Binny's PS OWA. With a splash of water, this just may be the best recent vintage OWA I've had the pleasure of drinking
amg
Vatting of 114 and BH. Not bad. Perhaps this is how I will finish the rest of the BH and then not buy another. I wish they would do a BH barrel proof since that might be really good.My current vatting of choice is 3:2:1 OGD114:BH:OGDBIB. Really brings out the best elements of the OGD profile and comes in right around 100 proof. Agreed that a barrel proof BH (or at least 90, come on Beam!) would be killer. The Black Tot
Bit late of a report but last week I was on the road in the UK and I dropped in on an old friend's house. Back in the mid 00s when I hadn't tried much of anything spirited, much less bourbon, I brought him over a Noah's Mill as a present. It wasn't his thing so much. Fast forward to last week and I got to have a few pours from that bottle - a full-fledged age-stated 15yr.Maybe there's really something to this karma thing. Madhatter
Got back to the bottle of Four Roses OESK from San Francisco Wine Trading Co. [ME-29-2W] at 113 pf. Good upfront, but taking some time to develop a typical OESK finish.

Paddy
Killed off the last three fingers of my W12/OWA/Ritt/WP (25/25/25/25) vat. Although it was an accidental vatting, I have to admit that this stuff started to grow on me and seemed to get better and better the longer it married up. Due to the cost of the WP and scarcity of the W12 component, I'll definitely not do it again (at least on purpose:skep:), but darn if I'm not gonna miss this one a little bit.
