Makes me want to try vatting. Working on some kcsb now, good way to end the night.

It's fun IMO. Start with an old 200ml or 375ml and try to mix 2 things you like and if you find a mix you enjoy you can consider a full 750. I use mostly OGD114 bottles for big mixes as the wide mouth of the bottle makes it easy to pour into from a measuring cup until I get some funnels on hand.

Speaking of vatting. I am enjoying a 1:1 Blend of BT and OGD114 aka Fozzy Blend. This stuff is incredible. Love how the finish blends the vanilla with cinnamon and tobacco notes from BT with the malty chocolate and spicy heat from OGD. Simply amazing!

Glad to hear someone else likes it. I had a pour a couple nights ago from my new to me antique decanter. Getting ready to mix a 200ml of EC12:Larceny for next time I want a pour.

I took last night off went to bed early and slept for 9 or 10 hours. I am considering taking some more days/weeks off possibly to try and cut 5 or 10 pounds before the snow flies. I suppose it might be easier to just set myself a two drink maximum any night I have a drink as the munchies don't seem to kick in until after the 3rd or 4th pour (and again after the 6th and 7th lol) but stopping after two pours isn't always easy to do.

Yessir. Invented here at Straightbourbon some years ago. Later, someone co-opted the idea and trying to ride the hysteria of the Pappyz Craze on their blog, called it the poor mans pappy. The sad point is that they totally missed the idea. The SB Blend is really an attempt to replicate Weller Centennial, not Pappy.

Having a couple of pours from a PS KCSB. Damn this is a great bourbon! Nothing near the "usual" Beam profile, and by far the best Beam product I've ever had. :yum: Too bad it's my last one. :frown:

Trying the fozzy blend for the first time. (1 oz. each of BT and OGD114). No mingle time, just a pour it and go for it blend. Pretty good! I'm guessing it gets better with a couple days to settle.

edit #1: woops; I drank 200ml of EC12:Larceny I mixed earlier today. The Fozzy blend is in my decanter....

On to some BT and Larceny neat pours now. Eagerly awaiting my OWA:W12 that has been mingling in the downstairs bunker for some time.

... will pull out my antique decanter of my blend for the next pour.

I can't believe how heavy that antique decanter is compared to the cheap amazon decanter. I will be mixing more fozzy blend tomorrow to top it off and maybe hitting more antique shops looking for more old whiskey decanters.

I had the blend mingled for 4-5 hours and maybe half an hour in the glass - it transformed beautifully in the glass (as does OGD114). I'll mix 200 ml up with a 60:40 BT:OGD114 today and have a little bit of the 50:50 blend left that I'll be enjoying tonight...

I have done a lot of mingling in my short time since I have started enjoying bourbon and I have found it is really hard to go wrong mixing two (or more) things together that you like on their own.

Found me a nice 300 ml Decanter which I didn't know I have (found in the cellar - bought years ago by my wife). Enjoying the Fozzy Blend...60:40 in favour of BT -> great pour!
