Went with a store pick 4RSB tonight. Glad I did...so glad, I went back for seconds!

I think I'll join you in that. Such a wonderful bourbon.

Steve, I do believe that the sinus pressure from the onset of allergy season is my main culpret. Hopefully, I can find an amicable solution other than awaiting the 1st killing frost of the season.

Until then, I'm probably going to have to stick to value BIB's. Oh well...

A related affliction is what put me on the sideline. I was with a client two weeks ago who had a sinus infection and somehow I got it too. I didn't realize it at first because the pressure snuck up on me. I'm a little better today than yesterday but am still not all the way back. I do hope you get over it before the first frost!! That's too long to wait for good bourbon.

Unfortunately during my time of being compromised, no Four Roses products tasted right.

WTRB and Bonded Beam where about all that worked.

Brought a bottle of the $20 Old Medley Bros bourbon with me on a family trip. It was ok, but came off a bit young, one-dimensional and harsh. Didn't quite do it for me. Came home last evening and hit some EC12 and EWSB, and that was more like it.

Starting off slow with some WT101. It's not only a great bourbon but the fact that is only $21.99 makes me smile :-)

After another long week with work interfering with my bourbon, was ready to greet the weekend with a nice, simple pour of Buffalo Trace. And after that happy introduction, dove into the HHSS :yum: TGIF!

i thought the same thing about Old Medley Bros. I don't mind high proof stuff but his stuff was pretty rough. Not much to write home about.

I just ended my 24-day abstinence from alcohol with some OGD114. Never tried it before and I have to say all of the praise it gets here is deserved. It's simply delicious. #Fantastic

Cracked open an '05 EWSB for later tonight and starting in on the new Netflix series 'Narcos'. Here's to hoping the 05 is better than that 06 was.

Nice pour of OF Sig (thanks for sharing that Wednesday Tasting, Bruce!) Damn if this isn't one of the unsung heros. Quick - everyone shut the @#$% up about it (that and OGD 114, can we keep a lid of them please? Pretty please?)

Moved on from OGD114 to the NAS I.W. Harper I found in NY. Tasty as well. I'm thinking I'd call Kentucky Tavern amazing after three+ weeks without a taste. :)

Now trying the EWBiB. Dang, it's also a great value. BTW, these are short pours as I'm on a tasting binge tonight.

Sure they're short pours. :skep: That's what we all say. It's the weekend. Who cares anyway? Have fun and enjoy!

Cheers! Joe

DON'T tell your friends!

Moved on to OGD114 myself. This feels like blasphemy, but I think I'm loving these last 2 as much or more than the HHSS. Like revisiting a record from your childhood where you still remember all the lines . . . not that OGD114 was part of my childhood  Smokinjoe nailed this one with his description of 'burnt brownie corners'.

Haven't bothered going back downstairs to open another new bottle, decided to just move up the proof scale on open bottles: EC12:Larceny vatting I mixed earlier, then Larceny, now I kicked it up a notch with MMCS 15-01. I think the only things left open higher proof are OGD114 and the bottom of a Bookers bottle.
