jerky does sound good. Pistachios for me tonight. FRYL is definitely on the sweet, mild side of things. It has almost no burn to speak of going down, but makes for a good starter for the evening.

HMcKBIB to kick things off. Starting to feel pretty good about giving this one a second chance. I was either in a different place with my palate when I had the first bottle or it was a case of single barrel variation. It's clearly got the HH house style going on, similar to EC12. If this keeps up for the next 3-4 pours (not all tonight, by the way....) I'll know it's a winner that merits a spot in the regular rotation.

Some new Eagle Rare without the 10yr label on the neck. The last bottle I had which I finished last month had the single barrel on the label and the 10yr band on the neck. I felt the newer bottle was much better than the older one. Smoother sweater and without that basement spice dank flavor to it.

It's been a while since I've seen anyone take one for the team and suffer the indignity of George T. Stagg. So I figured I'd take my turn tonight with some GTS '14.

Membership if the 4R cult notwithstanding, this is my favorite bourbon bar none. There's a cavalcade of 4R product right behind it taking up spots 2, 3, etc., but GTS is special.

Bourbon Club at work tonight. New bottles this month were Noah's Mill, Woodford Reserve, Michter's Barrel Proof Rye, and a store selected Henry McKenna 10 yr. A couple new bourbon drinkers joined us and had a good time. We killed off bottles of OWA, Larceny, Bulleit 10, and Stagg Jr. I'm not totally sad to bid the Stagg Jr. farewell. All the new stuff went over well. It was a good night.

Last night some WT 101. I have had the pleasure of drinking very little of the older, age stated 101 iterations which get so much love here, but I find the current bottling very solid and an easy, pleasureable sipper.

Now that I've acquired all 10 4R recipes I plan to systematically go through them to see if I can come up with a clear winner (doubtful) or at least, say, a top 3 (possible). Not going to try to do it all in one night for fear of palate fatigue, plus I want to take my time. Last night was OESV vs. OBSV. Don't think I'll need to revisit this one just to determine if the taste buds were off. OESV was the clear winner. One was good, the other was great, bordering on spectacular. And that's the way I felt about the last bottle of OESV I had as well. One contender for the top slot eliminated.

A short pour OF Sig while cooking some buffalo strip steaks. Nothing while I watched the Nats beat Miami. BUT, per smokinjoe's comment a page or so above, when the Skins/Ravens game is over, my JB bonded will keep me company while I do the dishes. This is a good night.
