A pour of MM 84 proof, with a splash of MMCS to help it out some.

Cheers! Joe

A Buffalo Trace mashbill #2 double feature....AAA10* and ETL. The AAA10* is a great budget base for an Old Fashioned, but lacks character and finishes sweeter than I like. That said, a $20 handle of bourbon with no glaring flaws is impressive in its own way.

The ETL has more depth, much more peppery spice and drinks warmer at the same proof. My opinion, probably not shared by the hive, is that ETL sometimes walks the razor's edge of being in wood too long. This one is in the sweet spot - lots of apple, cinnamon and coffee cake. And I expect to be even happier after it's been open a few days.

"Number Juan" tequila. Name sounds tacky. The distillery it comes from doesn't make any tequilas I am familiar with.

He claims he has a family connection (his brother in law, Alex Reymundo, also a comedian, is the "CEO"). Who knows?

I looked it up after making that post.

Found an interview with Reymundo where he said it was a tiny distillery in Mexico that he convinced to allow him to bring their product to the U.S.

Also said a marketing company told him "Number Juan" was the worst possible name. He went with it anyway after asking one of his audiences. ( it's part of one of his most popular bits about a Mexican NASCAR driver, apparently).

Supposedly it sells well in his home state of Kentucky. I thought all three bottles were fairly good, but I was well into the day's samples by that point, so take that with a grain of salt (and a squirt of lime).

sampling some of the ogd114 I bought, I can tell I'm definitely going to enjoy this bottle.

OF Sig and 4RSB. I feel as though I've got a missing cylinder tonight, as nothing is hitting my palate in stride.

Oh well, there's always tomorrow...

Ogd114

Just poured one myself. All the hi proof pours last night kicked my butt fast so tonight I am trying to work my way up the scale. Started with a 90pf mix of BT and Bulleit Rye (think I am over my Rye kick, only bottle of rye left after my 2 Bulleit Rye vattings is a GD rye) then a pour of Bakers and now the OGD114. I have KCSB > Bookers > Bookers:StaggJr > Stagg Jr lined up on the counter if I can make it that far. :slappin:

I've had the same problem the past couple days. It's been hard to find something that the palate likes.

The SAOS 10yr BP has been tasting good so another one of those tonight. Following with some OGD114 which wasn't working last night but is working again tonight.

Whew! This is getting tough! I may need to do a palate reset if this keeps up.

Kicked off the week with some GD9, this has become my alternate "fun" pour for those days when one comes in handy, today was one of those.

Made a nice dent in a family-size Larceny.

this post caused me to open one of my 3 remaining handles. I will not be putting a dent in it since it is a few hour drive each way to replace when these 3 handles are gone.

Having some EHTBP. This and Stagg Jr. are the two bourbons (to me) that takes ice well.
