Fires. Storms. Been a bad week in the Motherland.

Does anyone who has done one of the enhanced tours (such as the barrel tasting event from the Bourbon Affair) know what brands they age up there on the top floor? It will be interesting to see what happens to those barrels. I suppose if they re-roof it quickly, it won't change the profiles of those barrels much. The roof joists and purlins are still there so they can button up those warehouses pretty quick if a roofer is available. On the other hand, they might embrace seeing what happens to those barrels while exposed for a bit - kind of like their own version of Buffalo Trace's Warehouse X.

The upper floor barrels all were stamped with Heaven Hill Distilleries ( I did see a couple wheated bourbon barrels up there as well stamped Heaven Hill). The middle floors had Old Fitzgerald stamped barrels and the lower floors were Heaven Hill again. They said that they'll take barrels from many different areas for different brands, all according to the taste profile as it aged

Heaven Hill Warehouse Roof Gone; No Crazy Marketing Expected - See more at: http://fredminnick.com/heaven-hill-warehouse-roof-gone-no-crazy-marketing-expected/#sthash.QxyF0O91.dpuf

....

That won’t be happening. Heaven Hill officials tell me that fixing the roof is their No. 1 priority, but the continued weather is not helping the matter.

I was there for a basic tour yesterday and we noticed the roof damage. First thing I thought when I saw it was an opportunity for a Limited Edition. Had dinner in Louisville last night and saw the fire aftermath. They were still pouring water into the building.

"The whiskey is safe and will likely go into the normal production, with a Heaven Hill spokesperson saying it’s “highly unlikely” they would create a special project similar to Buffalo Trace’s Warehouse C “cyclone” bourbon."

["cyclone"? Wrong part of the world, Fred.]

Yep, I agree with the "2015 Downdraft Survivor Limited Edition", but I am glad to hear that the storms have not caused any human casualties...

I prefer "Microburst Microbatch" limited release myself.

Could have been much worse.

I am just glad the whiskey wasn't damaged. Even if they don't have a special release, it doesn't matter because all bourbon is special. Well, maybe not all, but a lot of HH's bourbon. I think the question was asked already but it would be interesting to know if the bourbon in the affected warehouse is generally allocated to a specific brand.
