LCWoody
A local liquor store sent me and email that they got from one of their salesman that Yellowstone 2015 LE should be out soon.
Richnimrod
I wonder if this will still be 'swill', or something worth a bit of excitement??????
shoshani
This is sourced whiskey, which they very forthrightly put on the marketing flyer. I don't believe Limestone Branch has actually distilled anything from the Yellowstone mashbill yet; if they have, it's very recent. Gonna be a few years before we see that whiskey under that name from this distillery, but at least Luxco isn't pulling punches with the provenance of this juice. LCWoody
I agree with Luxco not pulling the wool over our eyes about this bourbon. I'm also glad to see a Beam behind the wheel.
tanstaafl2
Hard to tell if both the rye and wheated bourbon are from Kentucky the way this is written. If in fact the wheated bourbon is noted to be Kentucky bourbon but the 2 rye bourbons are not it would strongly suggests the rye bourbon is MGP. If MGP it is not clear if it is the high or low rye but I wouldn't be surprised if the older component wasn't the low rye. I would guess the wheater is probably from HH based on nothing more than a SWAG! Presumably a lot of that around at fairly cheap prices if Larceny is any indication. Also would be surprised if there is much of the 12yo in this little mystery blend. Likely no more than is needed to give this a little extra "maturity". Extra proof is nice but price would drive this train for me. My interest likely goes down precipitously the more this goes over about $40 since I don't much care about "collectibility". fishnbowljoe
I wonder if the extra proof and age might make this quite a bit better than it's predecessor? The Yellowstone produced under Luxco wasn't anything to write home about. However, the original Yellowstone was pretty darned good. We can only hope. Might be worth a look see depending on the price. Cheers! Joe
cazolman
It is labeled a Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Does that require all 3 to be Kentucky distilled?

And that other remake, Kentucky (f)Owl, that's $100+. So, not holding my breath.

I look forward to the facebook group hysteria and the platitudes about the finest juice ever tasted."YellowHirsch Van PappyStone, rated 189 out of 100 possible points. A whiskey so good, I broke the glass after I sampled it because nothing else poured into it would ever hope to be as good. Then I broke every other bottle of whiskey on the shelf as well. The liquor store did not appreciate that one bit. My trial starts Tuesday."

Paddy
This is 7 year old sourced whiskey. We don't even know from where.:falling:We can assume Luxco. It's being referred to as a 'blending' of 7 and 12 year old. I think a three grain... At this price, I'm more interested on the 'new' standard Yellowstone, once it comes to age.

I think I can blend them myself.

Hop
So I picked up a couple of bottles in Bardstown the week prior to KBF and just opened one last night for a small taste before heading out for dinner - wasn't sure what to expect based on the blending notes but was very pleasantly surprised - rye was definitely there on the front but the wheat balanced it out. See this much like a vatting that is being spoken more and more of here which of course it is. I found it intriguing from a small pour and plan to revisit it soon with more time to appreciate the nuances which it definitely contains. $139.99 is high on the price but it is available lower as I've seen it since here in NC at the state ABC stores but still over $100. Glad I made the purchase I did.
Paddy
While I'm sure it's good, I'll continue to pass this one up. I realize that they (Limestone/Luxco) want to reintroduce the brand with something better than average, and I wouldn't expect anything less than their best foot forward with this endeavor. I just think it's too much of a $$$ stretch for a blend that really doesn't contain anything that isn't extremely rare and/or readily available elsewhere.I'm just to the point where I feel like I can do my own vat/blend and be just as successful, for a lot less cheese.
