mosugoji64
I stand solidly in Joe's corner on this one. My vote for "Barely good enough" would go to JBW. It's not something I would buy because I just don't care for it, but if my choices at the bar were that, vodka, and various liqueurs, I would pick JBW every time. Jazz Nut
The cheapest at home would be EWBIB, Old Heaven Hill 8, Old Heaven Hill BIB, which are all around $9.99-$13. I find them all good enough to drink, and re-buy. Out at a bar if faced with a poorly stocked bar, I would go for Jim Beam White, Maker's Mark, or Jim Beam Black. Though there is this "mixology bar" in Minneapolis that uses Cabin Still in their Old Fashioned, and it is a VERY underwhelming bourbon to use for an Old Fashioned. I play a lot of wedding and corporate gigs on the weekends, and the open bars are usually regular fare such as Jim Beam White or Maker's Mark, and it's better than nothing (or vodka).I don't think I've ever had a bourbon that was below enhancing daily living though!!
