I just bought a second house about three miles from our house and two blocks from the new baseball stadium they are building. My rational to my wife is that our children and grandchildren could stay there when they come to visit and we could stay there and walk to the baseball games and not worry about parking or drinking and driving. But it also has a 1000 square foot cellar that I am thinking about converting into a place to store bourbon and beer. I figured we broke even since we would rent hotel rooms for them all. Seemed like a win-win to me. May even start a brown water society that can meet there.

Are you sure 1000 square feet is enough room for all your "stuff"? But seriously, congrats on the house. Sounds like it has the all makings of great place for you and your family.

Anyone else have experience with Parafilm?

Probably not as effective as Parafilm, but I've had success with the Teflon plumber's tape you can pick up cheap at Home Depot.

I haven't stored anything for a period of several years though. As my bunker is growing, it may be time to invest in some Parafilm.

Being familiar with both, teflon plumber's tape is a great alternative. May even be better, as there is an element of misuse of parafilm (which will reduce its effectiveness.)

Parafilm works best when it has been prestretched. If you unrolling it and putting it on without stretching it will not be very effective. It's much more effective if stretched before using.

As I sit here on a Sunday planning my week, I'm following Squire's lead: "reach" being key. The trash can next to me holds more than trash, but one wouldn't know that unless one lifted up some of the trash. Replenishment is the task at hand.
