In my continuing quest to bring better and more interesting bourbon's up to the Great White North I now have the opportunity to bring up two bottles from the Memphis area. Can anyone recommend a good shop, possibly with some Store Picks, preferably Four Roses and Smooth Ambler as those are impossible to find here.

I did reach out to Buster's but there selection is a little weak right now and doesn't seem like any store picks.

Thanks so much SB!

Theres a couple of good ones in Germantown. Corks by Target and one across from McCalisters at Poplar and Exeter. They had (have?) FRSB store selection that I found to be pretty terrific for 36 bucks.

A that price it seems likely it is 100 proof OBSV. Not letting people do those picks anymore. Nothing wrong with that and a pretty decent price. But not likely to be barrel proof if that is what you are looking for.

Is it Four Roses Limited Editions you're after? 4R single barrel store picks as well?

Obviously if a limited was available I'd be all over it, but fat chance of that (unless you specifically know of something). I'm really only after barrel proof store picks of either Four Roses or Smooth Ambler Old Scout. Thanks.

Yes, 36 bucks is pretty cheap for a barrel proofer unless they are clearing out last years to make way for a new barrel shortly. I'll check it out though.

Just read an interview with Rutledge where he said they are going to require store's to come to Four Roses to make barrel picks bow in an effort to curb demand. Also they are longer the min age requirement for the barrel selections to 8 years for the near future.

Levoosh, would you be able to post a link to that interview? I would like to read it. Thanks.

Poplar Pike Wines is another one with a good selection, and is very close to Corks in Germantown.

It is, and is proceeding quite nicely. If you follow them on the twitter they posted a progress photo today.

Hmmm...just checked that out. From the quote "Behind the scenes of our Warehouse & Bottling Facility construction..." it's hard to tell what this first building will be. Sure LOOKS like a warehouse...

They'd better start with the warehouses before they have nothing left for a fancy new facility to bottle!

I'd love to know the details on the estimated warehouse completion dates.

Places I've liked in Memphis:

Charlies (Kirby-Witten Rd)

Natalies (Gtown Parkway)

Docs (Kirby Pkwy)

Gaslamp (Quince)

Gtown Village (Poplar)

Corks (Poplar)

Poplar Pike (Poplar Pike)

Lot of little places have been either very gougey, or just barren of much selection.
