Granted I've done no research to validate this but my liquor store proprietor told me the Old Granddad label is going to be discontinued!

I sure hope this is not true!

Anyone else hearing this?

ETA: I see now that this is a reoccurring topic!

Sorry!

Yup, seems about time to rehash this . . . at this point, unless it's from a prominent source or from Suntory, I think you can dismiss it. Besides, seems crazy to me they'd spend an ass load of money rebranding the brand to discontinue it.

Yeah, I can't see why they'd refresh the look just to discontinue it either.

If anything, I'd expect a price-hike. (Should I have said that out loud?)

Take that literally. The label has been discontinued--or redesigned. The bourbon, thankfully, is still with us. Recently a friend discovered that he likes OGD 80. I told him if he likes 80 he should try BIB. So he did. Yet another convert.

What Flyfish said - literally. While I was shopping recently, I noticed some old label OGD BIBs. Clerk saw me looking and tried to sell them to me as, "Last chance to get the old label for collecting." Bought two just because I like the screw caps - it doesn't stay around long enough to collect dust let alone become a collectible. If I could find handles, I'd decant new label into old just because of the cap. Easy to open and, better yet, easy to see in a crowd.

Yeah, I got a bottle of the new stuff and after opening immediately missed the cap. May go the decant route myself.

OGD gathers dust around here. But you have to search for the OGD 114. I'll have to pick up another bottle or two for $24. Not sure if that's a good price or not.

Sounds bout right. It went from 23 to 28 here.

The label has been changed (upgraded?) but the brand remains the same. I don't doubt Suntory would discontinue a brand that wasn't pulling it's weight but OGD is the largest selling BIB in the Country and has been for some time. Discontinuing a best seller would be like retiring a race horse that's still in it's prime.
