Just finished the last drips of a FRSB OESF "womens bourbon society" ( or something like that ) I grabbed from Binnys a few weeks back - grabbed a back up today as that stuff is delicious

Went to a favorite neighborhood bar tonight and had a pour of their Four Roses OBSQ private barrel, followed by a half pour of the 2013 William Larue Weller. Both were firsts; I'd previously only had an OBSV bottle from K&L, and I'd never tried any WLW. The Four Roses was fantastic, and the WLW...well, that stuff was sublime. Completely lived up to the hype, I have to say.

Excellent night of imbibing. Cheers!

Friends over for dinner last night. Many great pours over the evening. Started with the excellent GBS KCSB then a little Barterhouuse before dinner. Afterwards we moved to Glenmorangie Ealanta, then a couple of Peat Monster iterations before finishing the evening with the last drops of my Hibiki 17. Great company, good food, and exceptional whiskey.

My wife and I were up and at 'em by 7:00 this morning. Lot's of work to do. Long story. :banghead: We're taking a break now, and I'm having a pour from my newly purchased bottle of Weller 12, alongside yet another cup of coffee. Some things are worth it.

Cheers! Joe

OGD114 - As unique as it is and indeed I love some aspects of it - some days (like today) it's just too spicy and hot to me.

Noah's Mill to start the night. This is one of those I need to be in the right mood for. It is working for me tonight.

I have the same feelings about OGD114. On those days, I've mixed it 33% VOB or FR Yellow depending on how I want to knock it back, but usually I'll just sip it on days that I want something stronger. Because of their relatively reasonable prices. I wouldn't do this with something like Booker's.

Started with a small pour of the recently purchased OF BIB 1897, scooped a couple days ago. I must say, upon first taste: not worth the cheddar.

Not as BAD as the first of the Whiskey Row Offerings (1870); but not that swingin' for $50. Not ALL barrel, and Sour Oak, like the 1870; but not much, besides alcohol and acetone. I'd recommend a taste before laying down your cash. Just Sayin'.

Then, poured all of the small sample of 1792 Sweet wheat sent to me by my Baby Boy, Gary. First time I had it. Pretty ordinary to my taste buddies on this day, I'd have to say. OK, but not special.

Followed up with a pour of ER 10, because it's the BOTM, and I've not poured it for a few weex. Pretty Nice Stuff, especially compared with the OF 1897 and 1792 SW.

Ended the evening with a nice pour of HHSS (SB Pick #1) that, I really enjoyed!

OGD BIB was on sale in a VA ABC store. I bought two and opened one. . . . .

Good man, splendid behavior.

Finished another long year of soccer officiating today. Celebrating with a nice pour of WL12 followed by GTS14. I might even enjoy another pour, just because. A few weeks off and then back to training.

some BT, and I think I'm going to crack open my ER10 to try.

edit: so I did open my ER10 to try. This was good to try after BT. Similar to BT, however a little less sweet, smoother, and less heat on the palatte and finish.

Opened football Sunday with a Gift Shop JR selection of OESO and finished with a 3 finger pour of ECBP Batch 2.

Moved on to WLW from LY and then to EC23 and EC18

Dang....I know we haven't met....but it sounds like I need to make the drive from Durham to Mooresville to come say hello!

Ok, that sounded a little creepy. Just sayin'.....those are 3 of my top choices!

Did a sbs with WT101 and OGDBIB with a buddy of mine yesterday and found that we both liked the OGD better. We both got more corn on the nose and in the tasting. It was the first time either of us had tried OGDBIB and we were both blown away at how good it was for the price point. I got it on sale for $18. Can't beat that with a stick!

Tonight was SAOS7 followed by the last (quite heavy) pour from my only bottle of Stagg, Jr., Batch 4.

WT Diamond followed by WT101 12yr. Interestingly, the 12yr showed much more wood influence. A bit bitter at times. It was the first pour from the 12 so I'm going to chalk it up to lack of oxidation which the Diamond has experienced. The Diamond was pleasant, but not delivering on the price tag. The 12 year had moments of brilliance countered by the presence of too much wood. I'll hold off judgement on the 12 for now.

Loving the 12 Year but it's VERY woody. In my experience it becomes even more wood influenced with oxidation. It's not your everyday pour for sure but when you want that thick, very dry and nutty woodiness it's unbeatable methinks.

A pour of SB blend last night, another cold rainy day so I am already looking forward to some more tonight.

Hmmmm......I hope that's not true for me in this case. My reason for hope is the '15 OFBB which started out extremely tannic and bitter but changed quite a bit by the third or fourth pour. We'll see!
