The reason I am starting this post is way back, I figuredthis was a pass at $100.

ThenI walk into my liquor store and see: James E. Pepper1776 Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 15 year for$31. Worth a try at that price. I assume it didn’t sell at $100 or $60.

$31 for 15 year old is a good buy. I would grab some for that price.

Are you absolutely sure it is the 15 year? Around $30 is the price for the young NAS James E. Pepper. I have a bottle of that and it's nothing special. But if you can get the 15 year for the same price I would say go for it.

Of course, ymmv. I'm not a fan of most bourbons aged more than 12 years or so. EC12 and an older (pre-2009) Lot B are about my limit.

This makes me glad I've never payed for it then. 12 years tends to be my limit also though I occasionally find an older one that works. Hot woodchips though......

i have that one too and I hate it. Only use it to make BBQ sauce now.

For 30 I'd try it if it's actually the age stated 15yr stuff and not the NAS stuff. Worst case, it would make some interesting cocktails.

I had two in the bunker and opened one tonight for a taste.

It does not nose or taste woody at all, nose is light and fruity, tasting it very light and smooth gives me chocolate, salty caramel and some kind of cotton candy flavor.

In my opinion overpriced at 80 a steal at 40.

Thanks guys! This was helpful. The picture was of the 15 year. However the description mentioned it was 100 proof. So, I went to the Pepper website. The NAS is 100 Proof. The 15 is 92 proof. So they attached the wrong picture to listing.
