meadeweber
Based on the always scientific and trusty Eeny-Meeny-Miney-Moe method, I came up with Bernheim 7???
flahute
Last night I did a flight of Bernheim NAS, Bernheim 7, and Parkers 13. Love them all but guess which one I like the most.Because it goes against expectations I'll say the NAS.
dSculptor
By 4 a.m. you could have had cordovan Shinola on a Ritz cracker and exclaimed, "Wow, now that is some really good stuff!"Yeh, I know that's why I will always go back and try that certain one again when my head is fresh, I always say: Never drink good whisky when your drunk! RepTucker
Me and some friends recently did flights by age. No rhyme or reason other than age. Started at 6 year with HHBIB, VOBBIB, VOB86. Then went to 12 year: Weller12, ECBP batch 8, VW Lot B, Ezra 12. It was an interesting experience.
BTshorty
I can't remember, dSculptor,... what was our last flight ? I think it was EC18, OB Forged Oak, Hancocks Presidential Reserve, And PH Malt...!

mountaineervol
Only one bourbon in this one, with my first venture into ryes. Angel's Envy in the back. Some really good ones in there. I was surprisingly disappointed by the Baby Saz from everything I have read. Seemed a bit grassy. Both old scout single barrels were very good. EH Taylor was nice as well. The other two guys I was tasting with agreed closely with our ratings.
smokinjoe
Been playing ping- pong back and forth between OF Signature and OGD BIB for the last couple of hours while helping Mrssmokinjoe whip up her contribution to tomorrows neighborhood cookie exchange . A short flight, but the OGD is giving me more frequent flyer miles today.

smokinjoe
I possibly had one of the best inner-brand flights I've had in recent memory, last night. Beam BIB--Baker's--Booker's--KCSB. The transition up the chain was enlightening, and really show-cased the variations that each label brings to the Beam style. Interestingly, I placed the KCSB at the top (or maybe better put, the end) of the chain as the age on the barrel was 10yr-11 months, which gave it a significant dose of oak influence on the higher proof Booker's. The BIB was just a thick sweet juicy Beam profile, with a nice dose of power from the 100 proof. The Baker's was the BIB with the extra age giving it more complexity on the finish, but still sweet and with the Beam housestyle a little reduced. More polished. The Booker's took the Baker's on a rocket ride. Big and sweet with the huge 125+ proof points really warming the finish. Then, the KCSB was nearly the equal of the Booker's for bigness, but the nearly 4 more years in the barrel gave it a large dose of complex oak notes and more of a drying finish. It very much reminded me of what I would think a Booker's would be like at 11 years of age. Which, pretty much what it is. Beam is rocking me, right now. I've many years in this hobby, and Beam whiskies have pretty much been an afterthought for me. I'm somewhat sorry that I had not jumped into them, before. But, so glad to have the opportunity, now. It's like a whole new world to explore.
Paddy
^^^^Great report Joe! I've been preaching praise to the KCSB for a while now, heck the whole lineup is nothing but solid D1 in IMO. Cheers!

I discovered KCSB early in my journey and it has been a mainstay favorite ever since. Baker's came a little later and though I forgot about it for a while, it's a regular in the rotation now. Booker's..........well shoot, this is one I've neglected for far too long. Need to rectify that.
smokinjoe
I feel like Beam has sat patiently right in front of my face for years not screaming for my attention, and finally I've got off my arse to recognize how really great it is.

dSculptor
Beam's always been good to me... I too forsake these way too much, I used to drink JB Black like crazy, can't remember the last time I had a pour of that stuff, may have to get me a bottle of it again, one of my favorite pours back in the day was to do a 50/50 of JB Black and regular JB, as I remember it was pretty damn good.
