So the Mrs and I will be in Bardstown friday afternoon and Saturday Morning we have a wedding Saturday Afternoon And will make the trek home sometime on Sunday. Looking for ideas of what we should do and/or where we should eat. We will be coming in from the North so options in Louisville are welcome as well. Even some local shops that have a good selection and prices in relation to illinois. Thanks for any responses in advance

Indiana has the best prices, but KY generally has the better selection. If you're staying near downtown Louisville, I highly recommend a stop by the bar at the historic Seelbach Hotel. There are far too many great restaurants in Louisville for me to single only one out.

I also recommend the bar at 21C. They should have a great selection this time of year and their prices are pretty reasonable compared to other places in KY. Plus they have a museum you can wander around in.

I don't know how fancy y'all are but...Against the Grain has good beer and food downtown (awesome smoked wings), Hammerheads is always an adventure (but long waits), Mussel & Burger Bar is good too. Louisville is really blessed in the food department.

We are as fancy or fanciless? as it takes to get good food in a new city. Thanks for the option a couple of those I had already looked at some. PADDY thanks for the notes on Indiana will have to stop on the way down though. I believe they don't sell alcohol on Sundays in Indiana?

Overall the restaurant scene in Louisville is better than Bardstown's by several orders of magnitude, but Kurtz's restaurant in Bardstown has amazing fried chicken and desserts, and Mammy's does breakfast very well.

What he said. I'd add Rincon to the Bardstown list if you like Mexican food.

Cheers! Joe

Yep, I'm still talking about that place 18 months later Joe... :D

I usually stay at a B&B in Bardstown, so I can stumble around to places like Kreso's and the Talbot Tavern. Kreso's usually has an impressive whiskey selection, and their schnitzel is world class.
