I was thinking what to get my wife for Christmas - she loves Woodford Reserve. Just wondering if I got her a bottle of Old Forester 100 Proof BIB vs another Woodford Reserve Double Oak or another variant from the company, what are you thoughts? Do you think Old Forester is similar?

Thanks.

For the price, you can't beat OF Sig. Plus, I think it's a lot better than WR. I do like me some WRDO (but just not the price so much:skep:)...

for a couple of years WR was the only bourbon that I drank I liked it so much. I haven't revisited while branching out and trying lots of new bourbons. Unfortunately I can't find OF Sig in my area. I've been imagining they are close but haven't tried it yet. WR doesn't seem to generate much love here. Can't wait to try the OF Sig so I'd say offer her something new and go with the OF.

To my taste buddies and certainly my wallet, the 1897 BIB is NO MATCH for the much less expensive Old Forester Signature. I'm not a giant fan of Woodford offerings; but, that said, the Double Oaked is decent.

In my area, WR is common as dirt and nearly as cheap. $26 a fifth and I've seen handles as low as $40. Meanwhile OF is far less frequently encountered and is starting to rise in price.

I would go for the OF Signature if you can find it, probably save you a few bucks as well, but Signature, to me smokes WR or WR DO. Too bad for me, that it is not local to me anymore. For the price one of the best out there.

Yeah, after thinking about it the Warehouse Row Series 50.00 vs OF Signature 22.99 at the Meijer. I decided to just get the OF signature and save money for something else.

I like 'em both, although I don't have a bottle of the 1897 yet, I did get to try it and liked it better than the  of sig. What I did try the other day was a vat of WR and OF sig at 50/50...I was very surprised, very tasty! I will be doing a larger vat of that soon, because I used the last of the 2 bottles for it. On another note this is my first post since the switch and I can not see the insert picture thing down in the corner...bummer! I see the insert other media from a url but not the other one.

OF BIB 1897 is way better than WR. For something new, give her this one or Angels Envy!  That's my wife's fave!
