samboh
Old Weller Antique — Larceny Which is smoothest with less bite? As always, thanks! Best, Sam
tanstaafl2
It is almost always going to be an individual determination so best thing is to try both (if you can) and decide for yourself. OWA is higher proof (107 to 92) and some may equate higher proof as having more "bite", however one chooses to define that!
Senor Harvey
Personally, I am a big fan of OWA.
johnnyflake45
Foe me Larceny is smoother than OWA, however, I prefer the OWA over the Larceny. OWA has the edge in body, mouth feel and overall taste.
MTNBourbon
Larceny is nice, but I also prefer OWA over Larceny, but if we are talking about Weller in general, I would take WLW12 over all.
Chris m
OWA is better, Larceny is easier to drink.
smokinjoe
I find OWA and Larceny to be at opposite ends of the Wheater spectrum. Larceny is sweet up front, glides over the palate with a touch of cocoa powder, and with a more drying finish (ala Maker's). OWA is wonderfully big and syrupy, and with the 107 proof can provide a solid kick in the pants. I really like both for what they offer, are each fine whiskeys in their own rights, but markedly different, IMO. To answer your question though, if you don't want a kick in the pants ("smoothest"), go with the Larceny.

fishnbowljoe
I'll echo the posts of others. Larceny for something a bit easier drinking. OWA if you want something with more flavor and 'oomph'. I really like both, but I've been stocking up on OWA lately because a couple places near me have had OWA on the shelf about the same price as Larceny. Cheers! GaryT
What they said. Larceny is smoother, but I prefer OWA. If you really want smooth - look for Weller Special Reserve. I haven't tasted it in years, but my primary dislike with it initially was that it was TOO smooth for my taste (but that might make it just what you're looking for).
