I've had the THT in the tin and it was very dusty and not bad at all.  I am aware of the difference of the newer blended whiskey and it is, for me and as I wrote, awful.

I suspect the point he was making is that "Ten High Ten" is specifically the 10yo straight bourbon. The brand "Ten High" used to also be a straight bourbon (I happen to still have one somewhere I think) but is now primarily a blend. I think for a while there were still a few states that still had the Ten High straight bourbon but that may no longer be the case.

In your original post above you mentioned "Ten High Ten, the blend"

There hasn't ever been a "Ten High Ten blended whiskey".

In any case you are correct, the blended whiskey is awful!

Under $20?  Once I ordered a shot of Black Maple Hill at a bourbon bar.  I could not finish it.  I asked the bartender for a glass of ginger ale and poured the BMH in it to the horror of the bartender.  I STILL couldn't drink it.  I suggested he taste the dregs in the shot glass, and he did.  He offered me my money back.  I refused to take it, telling him he shouldn't have to pay for my mistakes.  I cleansed my palate with an OESO cask strength followed by an OESQ CS.  Although I also paid for the 4R's, the glasses had more in them than I expected so I tipped well.  It was only fair that I do so.

You're a good man Harry.

^^^^^^That's what you call an unspoken gentlemen's agreement.^^^^^^

Too bad most of this upcoming generation will never know the first damn thing about a basic code of chivalry.

Hell, all they want to do now is post videos/photos on multiple media sites to ridicule and/ot slander you, your honor, and your business for offending their 'senses'.

Harry, you should have lawyered up buddy!  Some asshat would have gotten you a settlement!

I have to ask, was it the 20 or the 21 year?

I loved the 20 year, but couldn't stand the 21 year.  I find it hard to believe that they are related.

21.  Sacry part was someone actually drank that swill.....not long ago I saw the bottle nearly dry.

Unfortunately I bought one before I tried it (assuming that it would be as good as the 20).  Now I'll have to suffer through it somehow (expensive whiskey sours...)

I tried J.T.S. Brown a few months back.  That will never happen again.

Was that the 80 proof version?

Not really a bourbon although put out by Woodford, the worst ever was the Woodford Reserve Classic Malt, and I $100 for it. That was early in my bourbon voyage. I actually like the Woodford Reserve Straight Malt, contrary to what many say.

Don't.  Just don't.

There's too much good juice out there begging to be gargled.  Write the Rhetoric off as a painful loss and drink what you like.

I don't think you were all that unusual in that assessment. Neither were great but the Masters Collection Straight Malt was, somewhat unexpectedly, the better of the two to me as well.

PennyPacker can usually be bought for $19.99 here in the US and since my family lives in Germany I had to get a bottle (€9 at the local German liquor store :)) for when I visit...anyways, it was a tough pour...

Colonel Lee... ick

Recently a bottle of a Nevada whiskey from LAs Vegas Distillery.. I hope they get better

Old Crow used to be pretty good, but the last one I had a few years ago wasn't up to par I think. Maybe my tastes changed.

Agreed. I picked some up here in NJ. Only because the distributor is very close to me. Figured why not for $20. It's not that it was awful. It's just very watery and bland. It took me like 6 months to get rid of it.

Another one is Cooper's Mark. I have the maple version of it. Still trying to kill the bottle.

Just goes to show how good a OGD BIB or even an Evan Williams is compared to other stuff priced similar.

I've also had some craft bourbon priced at over $40. Awful. Sorry but they just cannot replicate a good KY bourbon. For half the price even.

Well, since the $20 ceiling has been well shattered, I'll say again just how truly awful I find Garrison Brothers.

I know there are those who love it, especially the limited "Cowboy Bourbon", but I just don't get it.

I agree with the Ten High blend  and would add Jim Beam White and George Dickel (which while technically not a bourbon is close enough).
