Sweet Bourbons

What recommendations do you guys have for me?  I like a sweet bourbon with a thick mouth feel, not too oaky, with a rye backbone.    OF Sig, and WT101 are favorites of mine, I would just like to try new bourbons that I may be overlooking.  90+ proof is preferred.  Thanks in advance for your suggestions. -Ryan

Have you tried ECBP? Rich and thick. I would not describe it as oaky even though it is 12YO.

I have not, nor have I ever seen a bottle in the wild.  It is on my list to try, but, who knows when I will find one.

4RSB (35% rye in the mashbill), sounds right up your alley!  OGD 114 and/or ODG BIB will also bring the spice w/out too much oak.     

KC, EC12, HMcK BIB and EWSB may also be in your wheelhouse (but also could be borderline on age/oak influence as all are at least 9 years of age)...

Rendezvous Rye is pretty sweet, has a lot of rye, is 92 proof, and isn't thick, but isn't thin either.

OGD 114, and KC are great.  I found EC12 to be very oak forward to my tastes.  Also, I have HM BIB in the bunker, so that will  be opened after I finish a few other bottles.

If you like WT101, try the RR10yr. Despite being 10 years old, I don't get oak from it. I do get sweetness sometimes - like Bubble Yum gum.

Agreed, RR10yr is great, it is easily in my top 5.

Grab a bottle of OGD114 for sure.  I'll throw CEHT SmB in there too, maybe light in both mouthfeel and rye spice, but it's halfway to old fashioned sweetness straight from the bottle.

Not that I would ever just take a swig from the bottle.  Well.....then again......maybe.......yeah, OK, I have and will again.

I highly recommend Stagg Jr, batch 3 or 4!  Deep chocolate covered cherry flavors, and a thick, oily palate.

Old Ezra 101 7yo by Ezra Brooks . . . may be hard to find, but worth it.  It can still be found for under $20 . . . cheers.

To my tastes, HH BIB 6 yr fits that bill almost perfectly, particularly when pulled from the fridge.

I would definitely pick this up, but, I have never seen it before.  Anybody seen Old Ezra 101 in the burbs?

I would love to try HH BIB 6yr.  But, I don't think that it makes up to IL.

Rats, I should have thought of that.  I think you can get close with Fighting Cock, though.  I believe that is available in Chicagoland?

Binnys has FC listed on their website, I have yet to stumble upon one yet.  I'll try anything over 100 proof at $20.

the only thing I've seen around here is Ezra Brooks 12 year single barrel at Binny's and a few other stores.

and FC... haven't seen that in a while actually.  used to see it all the time.  I tried it once and it was def like a fighting cock in my mouth, so I never felt compelled to go back to it.

what about blanton's?  seems to fit the description that you put in the OP.

Yep.  Same distillery, same Mashbill, similar proof (103 v 100), similar age* (6 yr v 6 yr--understanding of course, that FC is now NAS, but I only see the 6 yr on shelves).  

The EW BIB is similar, but a little more harsh and can have some "dogginess" to it.

Am thinking that Charter 101 might be worth a look for you, too.  Charter profiles over the years have tended towards the sweeter side.

I will keep an eye out for it.  I don't think I have seen any of the Charter brands though.

Barton is another brand that I find sweet and fruity.  Maybe a VOB BIB or 1792....
