Stew
Trying Four Roses Single Barrel for the first time this evening. Bought the bottle on my way to work ( have a Bottle King blocks from my job) and uncorked her tonight. Poured a small shot full to see what so many tout as a premium great tasting bourbon. Well, after letting it sit for a minute or so I took a whiff...wow! This bourbon was so aromatic and appealing to the nose that I had to sniff two more times. So far, we're batting a 1000! The came the first sip. All I can say is boy am I glad I purchased a bottle of FRSB! This bourbon is so good it has immediately moved into a top spot with me. Caramel, chocolate, clove, vanilla somewhere in the finish, I'm just overwhelmed with the characters saying hello to my tastebuds! I can guarantee that a bottle of FRSB will always be in my cache of bourbons. This bourbon is too delicious not to be a part of every drinker's arsenal! Stew
Yes Gents... I have officially thrown my hat into the FRSB game! I can whole heartedly understand why I've read so many posts both in SB and in other reviews online touting the goodness of FRSB. I also might add that IMHO, this bourbon is providing a taste and palatable presentation far beyond it's price point. I've spent a decent sum on bourbon over the last few months ( 9 bottles) some reaching the $55-60 range and truly believe that FRSB is such a wonderful bourbon far below the price of it's companions on store shelves. I paid $39.99 yesterday for the 750 ml bottle at BK. After last night's tasting, had it been a blind taste test, I would have believed I was drinking a much higher priced bourbon. I am a fan; a newly dedicated Four Roses Single Barrel drinker for sure. Just wish I had the time and money to buy and sample so many more out there! starhopper
I've only "been into" bourbon for three months now, and the only Four Roses bottle I have is the 2015 Limited Edition Small Batch. It's pretty good, but I wonder if it has spoiled me and I won't like the regularly available bottles. I just walked into the liquor store down the street and the FRSmB 2015 LE was just sitting on the shelf. I figured, what the heck, and bought it. It seemed pretty darn expensive to me ($129) but now I see it going for much more on the secondary market. I keep thinking that I should have just kept it sealed and sold it so I could buy more bourbon! Edited December 23, 2015 by starhopper
Stew
Good question SH....Spoiled, I don't think so however, I do think it'll affect your preferences and or " go to " bourbon choices. Taste buds vary and change day to day, after a meal or a good cigar. You may like FRSB on a clean palate or something like that and yet after eating steak or a grilled Ahi Tuna, you may prefer another bourbon based on its blending with what you just ate. Four Roses SB is definitely a front shelf bottle in my view now...Always within reach when you want a glass. Some of the others we possess may take a back seat but still get the nod when we're into another option. You never know, guests over the house may choose another bourbon in your arsenal. You may jump in for the evening and sip that bourbon realizing " hey, I like this bourbon a lot! " . Now, you're one step or should I say sip closer to a wider range of selections. I started out drinking Blanton's SB and Basil Hayden neat and Maker's mark for my Manhattans and Old Fashioneds. For 4 months, I only drank those 3 bourbons. In the late summer I finally ventured out and started buying and trying different bottles of bourbon based on recommendations and on line reviews. Glad I did. Six new bottles of bourbon later I am far more versed than I was and am now beginning to understand what I like, don't like and what sits nicely within my palate after dinner or a BBQ. IMHO, Four Roses SB rocks; but some of my other bourbons are right up there too. Hell, my OFSB and EC12 definitely take front and center position on my shelf. Ya gotta show 'em some love! Enjoy your FRSB and if you're ever coming to Northern NJ, drop me a line and we'll share a bottle!

jeffrey r
Stew, if you can believe it, FRSB used to be $30 in NJ just a couple of years ago, which was a steal. And not only that, but at that time, I stocked up on many bottles that came in a gift pack with two excellent Four Roses rocks glasses. So I have several bottles of FRSB still in the bunker, and a gaggle of FR rocks glasses. This is my #1 staple bourbon, and I've turned a lot of people on to FRSB. Enjoy the bourbon, and the journey. Stew
Jeffrey...I was lucky I thought to get it at the $39.99 at Bottle King earlier this week. BK membership holiday sale so with my BK card, 39 bucks. The original tag is $49.99! As you've done , I too am going to look for specials on FRSB and stockpile a few away. Hope your friends enjoyed the guidance you've given towards the FRSB and truly appreciate such a fine tasting bourbon as this is. Wish someone had directed me to try it a long time ago! Better to come to " the light " now rather than never! FRSB is in my opinion, although I possess much less bourbon experience than many on this site, one of the best tasting bourbons I've had since my journey to bourbon this past April. A bottle will always be in my cache! BTW... do I have to share it with guests, or can I keep it for myself? LOL- Maker's for the company and FRSB for the host! Merry Christmas! b1gcountry
Many of your company will prefer maker's, and will likely think it is the more premium bottle unless you tell them.

Stew
This is the FRSB I purchased. Tag on the shelf with the FRSB name and inventory number said $49.99 ... I paid $39.99 because I had a Bottle King member card. Here's the bottle: Nothing unique about it I assume? P Elliott--- I'm a huge Packers fan! Been for 25 or so years now! Harry in WashDC
No, it is not unique among 4RSBs, but it is certainly unique among bourbons. But then, aren't they all one from another . . . It's the holidays - getting maudlin and philosophical is required. On the way to my 4RSB as we speak.
