I don't know if many of you know what tonsil stones are, but they were making my whiskey (amongst other things) taste like crap!  You can google "tonsil stones" and read about what they are, but in a nutshell it's a build up of stuff in your tonsils.  They smell really bad, and make your mouth taste like doo doo.  I have probably had them for years, but didn't know what they were until I took a flash light, looked in the back of my throat, noticed a large white thing and then looked it up on the internet.  What first prompted me to do that is I felt like something was stuck in my throat.  I've learned how to deal with them, and removing them is pretty easy.

Now that I got the yucky stuff out of the way, my point is if you ever notice your whiskey tasting nasty and don't have a cold you might want to take a look for these suckers.   Ever since getting this thing under control my whiskey has been tasting awesome, not to mention everything else I consume tastes much better.

Wow.  Thanks for sharing.  I've never heard of that.

How did you remove them?

I seem to have a deep pocket in my tonsils on the right side of my throat.  First I had to get over the gag reflex, and now I can poke around back there with a plastic dental tool and scoop them out.  Seems like I gotta do it every few days...kinda like changing the oil in your car :)

I found out I have them too, Bourserker. Couldn't figure out the feeling of "something stuck in my throat" until this year. It's annoying for sure.

Like flossing, it's good to clear out the tonsils daily.  I imagine that it may not be as much of an issue if you've had your tonsils out.

From what I understand, the tonsil stones can be a genetic thing. I get them constantly and so do most of the folks on my mom's side of the family. I've found too that when I remove mine, not only do things taste better, but my sinuses drain out and I can breathe better too.
