It depends where I am and what I'm feeling.  If I am messing around in my garage, I usually stick to the same bottle.  But all other times any bottle I have is fair game at anytime.

On an average night, I'll drink from 2 or 3 different bottles depending on mood and taste preference for the night.

Usually bounce around to as many as half a dozen bottles, unless I'm trying to drain a bottle to make room and or get rid of it.

I usually start with something "nicer" that I'm still trying to get a feel for and follow that up with something more available. Right now I'm trying to decrease the number of bottles I have open so I'm tearing into whatever has the lowest fill level with the sole purpose of finishing it off.

All depends on the mood or the mission... But usually no more than 2 pours from the same bottle in a night

It depends. I'm a moody drinker in so many ways.  I would say I switch it up about half the time.  However, when I have friends over it is ALWAYS a multiple bottle session.

I'm doing the same thing. Starting with those bottles I don't really like and shouldn't have purchased. I just get annoyed staring at them on the shelf and need to finish them off. Then I'm going to move onto other bottles that are lower and kill those off too.

In general, unless I'm in a "need to kill these bottles" mode, I only have 1 drink from a bottle and then switch it up. So much good stuff out there!

I guess I like variety, I most always will do 3 different pours on any given evening that I'm sipping. Sometimes I will switch out one bourbon for a tequila or mescal. IMO bourbon and tequila really compliment one another.

3-4 different bottle pours per session. Usually start with something in the 90 Proof range and end at one or two Barrel Proofers.

I don't think I've ever started and finished one 750ml all by myself in one sitting.  When I was younger and in my prime, I did on more than one occasion visit a fellow vet (hey, Cotton) in the hospital and split a "fifth" of Jack Daniels over the course of several hours.  But no more.

I believe the question is asking about switching from one whiskey to the next (e.g. 1oz of EC12 followed by 1oz of OGD114 vs. drinking just EC12 for the night) not chugging an entire bottle in one sitting. Although that might be a more interesting question.

Usually I flit between a few bottles early on, but if it devolves into a "get stupid" night, I make sure and designate a mid-shelf replaceable victim.

However, like many, I too will be in a culling the sick and the weak phase when I get home. It has the added benefit of really making you think twice about rolling the dice on new purchase gambles :)

I usually have several pours from several bottles to start with, then will likely end up having a few glasses of what I like best that night.

Also, I usually start with the lowest proof of what has been poured, such as an EWSB or Eagle Rare 10 to get the taste buds going.  Then from there I will usually pour a barrel proofer (usually with a drop of water), and something else tasty.

Some nights I may even end with a Scotch.

The other reason I usually start with a lower proof (90 and under) is because on more than one occasion, my palate has been weird (cold, sinuses, etc.) and things just aren't working.  Then I know to wait for another day :)

I too usually have the first pour from a really nice, sometimes hard to find bottle and then settle in with everyday easy to find one.   Currently finishing off a PH Wheat and then switching over to OWA. I was lucky enough to buy several OWA 1.75 bottles  several months ago.   Excellent for the price!

Exact same.

Almost always do a half ounce or one ounce pour from 2-3 different bottles. I need to be better about recognizing when a particular pour is exceptional on a given night and pour another from it right away...

Most nights I have a particular bottle in mind.  Sometimes I will compare and contrast with another brand just for curiosity's sake, sometimes I will just stick with it.

Some nights I'll do 2 or 3 at varying levels.  This is usually when I'm sitting in the garage with a cigar and I will just drink from the bottles that happen to be out there.

Less often, I'll try to finish off a particular bottle.  This is when it begins to feel like work, especially when the bottle isn't anything I would buy again.   My current nemesis is 4RSmB and I can never seem to make much headway on that stuff.

I rarely have the same whiskey during the same month, much less the same day.

If I am in the shop working then it's usually some EC12 or KC with water, the water just because I'm "working". But even then that gets boring and I tend to go and get something different from the cave.

Not quite as rarely as a month but close. I may repeat a different barrel or recipe  of the same brand within a week, 4Rs, OWAs and Ardbegs in particular. But being able to have many bottles open that don't turn and drink differently was certainly a bonus when switching to barrel aged spirits from wine.

I'll usually pour from 2 or 3 different bottles when I'm drinking unless I'm drinking a barrel proofer and then I tend to stay with it.

I maybe have 2 or 3 drams . Sometime it's just working for me and I'll stick with it. Or   After my first dram I'll change it up. Depends on my mood.

so the answer for me is C

Lol. This is what I thought the thread was originally about. I usually stick to one bottle, sometimes two, but then again, I usually only have a pour or two on a weeknight.
