Single barrel or not

Recently purchased RR single barrel but noticed the label also states small batch? As for the taste,since I always start off neat found a bit hard,but only took a teaspoon of water to make it much nicer fro my second round.

For what it is worth (as in, there is no legal definition of "Single Barrel"), these are single barrels.  The "Small Batch" portion of the labeling has been reported by WT as an error.

The "legendary" RR small batch single barrel label was a marketing department blunder that Eddie Russell has since admitted to. Maybe the same guy who screwed up and mixed rye and bourbon to "creat" Forgiven was responsible!

Supposedly when the next label change comes along it will be fixed. Or not!

Isn't it a small batch if it's only from a single barrel? To the uninformed, it probably makes no difference.

Sounds cool though, I can see how a marketer might miss the double meaning.  When you think about it single barrel is the irreducible minimum for a small batch.

Squire's Right!    THE Smallest part of any 'Small Batch' would, of course be a Single Barrel from that Batch.    Still it seems pretty superfluous to call it Small Batch AND Single Barrel. 

But I will say, the labels on any/all whisky have pretty much no effect on the fluid inside the bottle.... at least in my experience.

Well, Rich, I can save you the trouble.  Licking the labels does, indeed, change one's palate.  And usually not for the better.  Just saying from experience.
