  • 6 months later...

Tried batch 6 for the first time tonight. I also just picked up a batch 7 that is still unopened. While this thing is rich, sweet, spicy, and oaky. It runs thru those individually on its way back thru your mouth. I wasn't expecting a lot based one some reviews (one dimensional, over oaked, etc.) but I love this stuff.

Sounds like I'll need to track down a bottle of batch #6. I stocked up on #4 as I liked it best so far, but there's no need to play favorites.

Where #1 was harsh and unbalanced, the later batches are like a liquid sledgehammer in the best possible way, so I'm hoping that BT is continuing to bring the quality. Especially at NorCal prices…

I made an impromptu stop at a local liquor store the other day. I spotted a couple of bottles of Stagg Jr behind the counter. I didn't find out which batch they were because when I inquired as to the price and asked to look at a bottle, the manager told me she couldn't sell me one because she wasn't sure what the price was yet.  "Good Grief Charlie Brown!"

FWIW, a young man I coached in high school bowling a number of years ago used to be the liquor store/department manager there before he got promoted. Needless to say, I miss him a lot.

"Don't know the price yet"..........ridiculous. It's only Stagg Jr. for Chrissakes.

The grocery store I picked up batch 7 at had about 20 bottles and they were $48.99 each before tax.

I really don't understand why they put these bottles out before they're priced. But the fact that they don't know the price probably tells you it's not one you would want to pay.

Batch #7 (130.0 pf) is out - still $38.99 OTD here (yea!).  Got mine but still working on an open bottle of Batch #6 (132.5 pf) - much better (not as overpoweringly hot) after being open for a few months, IMHO.    :D
