There are a lot of things from Buffalo Trace that I like, love and obsess over. Eagle Rare Single Barrel sure isn't one of them. My sense of thrift and greed prevent me from pouring it out or passing it on to a more appreciative soul.

Sorry, they are my demons and are not conquered yet.

My techique of cooking a country ham that took me 20 years more or less to perfect , requires a touch of Kentucky's Finest. So in the spirit of the season a cup of ERSB is evaporating in our oven. Maybe someday I will appreciate ERSB more.

Merry Christmas all!

Hey, at least you are using it and not pouring it down a drain. I personally like Eagle Rare Single Barrel but not everyone likes the same thing and that is what makes this all so fun.

Bobby, you surprise me! I believe this is the first time I've ever disagreed with one of your bourbon verdicts! ERSB has a special place in my heart, both as a 'diamond-in-the-rough' and as a value bourbon. Please don't delegate your bottle to marinade!

I'm far too frugal for that, Just a cup full!

I think it's a good bourbon but not great, Not overly fond of Ancient Ancient Age 10 year either. Generally Buffalo Trace is a go to distillery for the good stuff.

I agree with you Bobby. ERSB, along with Rock Hill Farms, which in my opinion is probably the same whiskey, is the most different, as well as my least favorite of the BT bourbons. It seems every time I try it I like it a little less. It has a very "green" taste that covers up any other redeeming qualities, IMHO. It really doesn't taste at all like the other two ER bottlings. I'm still working on my first bottle of a year and a half or so. Pretty bottle though smirk.gif

It has been noted on this site before that Eagle Rare's are the same mashbill as Ancient Ancient Age...probably the same whiskey just selected for their high quality. I REALLY like AAA and ER (I have never had Rock Hill but can't wait to try it) but "taste" is an individual thing...I have never been very exited about any WT for example...but without a doubt BT must be given credit for trying to create the best choice of quality premium bourbons available. Every year my local liquor store...which claims to be the fifth largest in the state based on dollar volume...has fewer and fewer bourbon choices. Someday I will walk in and see under the Bourbon sign 2 shelves...one with Jack Daniels and one with Jim Beam White. They already take up a huge amount of shelf space already.
