I randomly walked into a Liquor store in Astoria, Queens...I usually do because you never know...hence, today was one of those days, I found a 2016 Booker's Limited Edition Rye at manufacturer retail price. This was a double whammy because no secondary market increase in price and it was in Astoria, Queens NY!!!

I have seen this in a local shop also for the msrp of $300 -- I guess it is a bit of history never to be created again, but I could not pull the trigger.  Have thought about going back and getting it though...

Ran into a fighting cock 6yr age statement today so snagged that.

Made a random run to KY and picked some goodies: OESO, HHBIB, Old Fitz BIB, a couple Gallenstein Turkeys. It will be a good weekend!

I know what you are saying...I was not going to pull the trigger but I know for a fact I would have kicked myself a day/week later.

Some day I think it'd be interesting to so SBS with many of these regional distilleries like Texas, Florida, PacNW, etc.  To me, most of the Texas bourbons taste the same with a ton of corn and very little depth  Not sure if it's the heat or the water, so I'd be curious how it compares to something from a similar climate like Florida, or some place entirely different like Washington state.

I like that idea. I spoke with the Master Distiller and we talked about how the heat in Florida would affect the aging process. They're thinking that 4 years in Florida is equivalent to 6 years in Kentucky but only time will tell.

How does it taste?

I'd give it a B- or C+.

Age statement is 16 months so it could definitely use a little more time in the barrel, IMO. Their plan is to release another batch in 2 years or so. Very spicy up front at first and then definitely lighter than most bourbons I enjoy after that. Will take it with me this weekend to tailgate and share it with friends and see what they think and it may have opened up a little more by then.

Exactly!!! The store down the road used to be my go to, but most of them I get here now.

Picked up a Booker's Noe Secret and something new in town - Belle Meade Single Barrel (111.1 proof).  Very nice MGPI and no deception happening.  Considering the Cognac finished bottle later on.

I've enjoyed all the pours I've had from the PH Malt.    I know it's an odd amalgamation that fits no Bourbon profile, nor any Scotch profile of which I'm aware.    It is it's own thing for sure.    If you expect it to be like anything else, you'll be disappointed for sure.    So, if you don't mind different, and you go into it without any preconceptions, you just might find a way to like it.    Many here do not, and I can certainly understand that; but I like it pretty well.

I stopped a couple places before leaving northern IL this weekend, hoping to find a couple types of (unrefrigerated) Pipeworks and/or Revolution beer.  No real luck there but I did find a lone bottle of EH Taylor Barrel Proof in a small town store.  The cashier commented she had never seen it before, then when it rang up for $69.99 she said, "Oh, that's why," saying they didn't sell very much of the expensive stuff.  The store also had EH Taylor SmB for $38, which is a couple dollars cheaper than my area.  I didn't need any more of the SmB though.  They had a fair amount of BT products for a small town, I was impressed (aforementioned EH Taylor, BT, Eagle Rare, Stagg Jr., and Baby Saz).

I just looked at the SB thread and it appears this bottle is batch #5, 127.5 proof.  So I have 3X batch #3 (129.0), 2X #4 (127.2), and now 1 batch #5.  Opinions on how they taste appears to vary.  I am not likely to do a side-by-side with all three, so I will have to go from memory as I open them.

Local store got in a barrel of OWA so I picked one up to see if it seemed any different from a bottle from a few years ago. Might bring them along for experimentation at KBF!

Since I'd been a while, I picked up a EHTSmB figuring it was about time to do a quality control check on the Taylor BIB.

First Post--So HI Bourbonaires!

Pick up several 04 EWSB (two different barrels), EC 12yr-both sizes, and a couple of Bookers 2013-7. Heavy dust and found locally in a store that sells nothing but 1/2 pints. And, I left some of each for the next lucky purveyor.

Stay hungry for the hunt my friends.

Finally caved and bought a KC2001, Batch 3. I had been watching a store that received 6 and they slowly went down in supply. Today, there was only 1 remaining on the shelf, so I decided to go for it.

Welcome to the board, FP!    Glad to have you adding to the fun.    You've made some nice purchases there, my friend.    Incidentally, a 'purveyor' is a seller or peddler of goods, not a buyer, at least not one that intends to be the end user.

Great word though!
