Hi all,

Can someone please explain to me how to read the laser code on bottles of Jefferson and/or Jefferson Ocean?

I stubbed across a dusty bottle of Jefferson Ocean while on vacation and am having trouble figuring out what voyage it is from.  The neck label only says "Specialty Bottling" and "www.mclainandkyne.com".  The hang tag is generic, but does have a 2014 Jefferson's Ocean copyright on the back.  I am thinking it is Voyage 1 extended, but am not sure.  The laser code is 1421517:52:38

Thanks for the help!!!

Mark

With Ocean it is easy to tell the original bottling from later releases based on the appearance of the bottle. This post has a picture of the first two releases.

If it has bright white lettering and has a black ship outline with three barrels on the back of the ship that could be the original. After release 2 they changed to a different ship outline that looked like a big cargo ship (because that was what it was "aged" on after the first release, including the second release). But the original release was well before 2014 I think. It was 2012 I believe.

A picture of the bottle might help!

As far as the laser code goes, it is the same as any Buffalo Trace laser scheme.  With the exception that Buffalo Trace starts their laser code with a "B".

The first two digits are the year.  The next 3 are the day of that year.  The next series is the time in HR:MIN:SEC (24hr clock).  So your code:  1421517:52:38 is 2014 Aug 3rd (215th day of 2014) 5:52:38pm.
