whiskey buyer
I purchased a bottle of legacy to try it tonight. I have taken a couple of sips neat. It is a little hot, but I am going to try in next on ice which is how I prefer bourbon. I will let you know how I like it.
whiskey buyer
So I just tried a pour of the Legacy on ice, and all I can say is I am glad it came with a 10.00 rebate. It does not compare to other bourbons I have tried in its same price range. I will finish the bottle by mixing it with coke, or other mixed drinks like a mint julip. b1gcountry
Sorry to hear it. I've actually never heard of it before, but I won't be tempted now if I do see it. Good for you for trying something new though. I certainly have some bottles I won't be finishing anytime soon. The interesting thing though, one of those bottles was ec12, and after I got used to the oak, I started really enjoying it. Others, not so much. flahute
What the heck is Legacy? Never heard of it and a google search doesn't turn up anything. Can you post a photo of the bottle?

Bourbonmakesmepoop
I bet he means Larceny. dont mix with coke, send to my house to be enjoyed
kjbeggs
Gotta' be talking about Larceny, though I'd never describe it as "hot". It is inexpensive enough to use as a mixer, but I find it quite enjoyable on it's own.
Rick M.
Maybe he means Wiser's Legacy but it's not Bourbon; nor is it 'hot'.
PaulO
I think I have seen Legacy Bourbon as bottom shelf store brand in CVS drug store. It was inexpensive, plastic 1.75L, 80 proof, NAS, don't know who made it.
B.B. Babington
there is another Canadian (maybe also Wisers?) that online vendors have for about $30, http://www.legacywhisky.com/home.html Edited August 9, 2016 by B.B. Babington

I tried a pour here and there, but I just couldn't drink it. Awful stuff. The majority of it went down the drain.
b1gcountry
This thread is getting a surprising amount of traffic considering none of us know what bottle we are talking about!
Queball
I suspect the OP is referring to Larceny, which happens to have a mail-in rebate of $10 per 750, and $20 per 1.75 right now. However, in case he isn't, this is could be it: http://legacywhisky.com/our-whisky.html

It looks like the usual advertising that's sometimes on the bottle necks, and at first, that's what I thought it was. But it's the mail-in rebate form that you need to fill out and mail to Heaven Hill. Be advised though, that the print is very small on this form, and you'll need to hold it about 10 feet away (like I did......), or get a big magnifying glass to read it. whiskey buyer
In contrast I got to enjoy a pour of Van Winkle 12 year family reserve last night.
whiskey buyer
Ok, so I, being stubborn, am trying another pour of Larceny. It is 92 proof. The nose on it is hot, and when you taste it the nose did not lie, it is hot. However I will say that I am enjoying the flavor more than the first pour. I am not sure that means I will buy another bottle, but I am looking forward to trying this as a mixed drink. So I am sitting here reading the latest edition of The Whiskey Advocate, sipping on the Larceny bourbon, and have a Castle rerun on the table. Does the Larceny make the magazine more complex, or the show funnier? I will let you know after I have finished a pour or two.
Bourbonmakesmepoop
If Larceny is hot, then so is my mother in law
Richnimrod
Try pouring out a fair amount of the Larceny into some decanter that will be about half-full with that amount, wait a week or even two, then try either drawn-down bottle or the decanted portion. You may find a pour that's much more to your liking. Air can sometimes have that effect, and I find that to be true of wheaters more often than not.
