JoeTerp
Does anyone have any recommendations for a New Orleans liquor store? My wife is traveling for business and is willing to stop in and take a look for me. Thanks in advance Joe
Louisiana
Try Martins Wine Cellar. They are hit and miss on Bourbon & Rye, because as their name suggest mostly carry wine. They do get some private barrels in sometimes & carry really good prices on them. I bought some WP Rye at 119 proof earlier this year for $68 & have really enjoyed these bottles! Darwin
I have been away a long time, but I would also recommend Martin's Wine Cellar. You should have no problems finding Sazerac if it's on your list. http://martinwinecellar.com/
VWIndy
Try Dorignacs Food Store in Metairie. I saw Elmer T Lee and Weller there a few weeks ago. They have an outstanding selection and good prices.

It was fun to drink a cold draft beer while shopping. I remember Dorignac for their foods, glad to know they have a good spirits selection. http://dorignacs.com/departments/liquor/ I will stop in if I ever get back to the ciy. But as someone who hates grocery shopping, I really admire this idea. (As long as you could take your beverages with you while you shop. And assuming the carts had cup holders... I'm a high maintenance grocery store drinker shopper idealist.)

If possible any where, New Orleans is the place it would be. Heck, they have drive through daiquiri stands so why not this?
Darwin
I don't think cup holders had been invented yet, but sure you could drink while shopping. It was not uncommon to see a few folks doing "laps" in the store. ...the Schwegmann name soon became synonymous with grocery shopping in the New Orleans area, affixed to 18 stores that employed 5,000 workers. The stores featured everything from auto parts to gourmet foods to small restaurants and bars inside cavernous buildings. ... http://www.nola.com/175years/index.ssf/2012/01/john_g_schwegmann_the_times-pi.html http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/food-and-drink/schwegmanns---greatest-grocery-store-ever/43763464/ http://www.bestofneworleans.com/gambit/blakeview-schwegmann-giant-super-markets/Content?oid=2535673
JoeTerp
Thank you SB'ers. My wife did end up going to Martin's and brought back a couple of store selects (Whistlepig 113.9 proof and Eagle Rare).
