Louisiana
I'd rather see charity get the money than secondary & retailers! Good Job Buffalo Trace!
GaryT
I'm also liking this direction. Cash in for a good cause while people are throwing money around at rare/old whiskey.
Flyfish
The angel's share, indeed! Do you suppose these bourbons spent 30+ years in barrels so there was only a couple of cups of bourbon nectar left? Or were they transferred to stainless tanks? Ordinarily, bourbon is made for drinking but even those of you who appreciate extra age might find them a little beyond their prime. The temptation to open and find out would be great but that would diminish the collector's value. I can picture, though, someone with enough disposable income to buy one of these actually drinking it so he could tell his friends how great bourbon was before it all went NAS. garbanzobean
I bet this stuff was tanked at some point. I simply cannot imagine 30+ year old bourbon being drinkable. @dcbt, thanks for the heads up. I forwarded this page on to a number of charitable organizations I have done business with in the past, and they are applying to be allocated bottles to auction. BFerguson
The PHC 27yr was quite drinkable. B Sent from my iPhone
tanstaafl2
The Jefferson 30, while not as good as the PHC 27, was also drinkable. Then again it was from Jefferson which makes it a bit suspect to begin with... Edited September 22, 2016 by tanstaafl2
