Which bourbon or whiskey has surprised you the most this year?

If you think about it, Luxco did something here very similar to what Willett has done for years.  

 

The bourbon that surprized me the most this year - regular Beam white label.  It was the only bourbon at my niece's wedding.  So I said, what the heck.  Yeah, it's young 80 proof bourbon: sort of sweet, not complicated, but nothing wrong with it.  It is what it is.

With so many of my favorite bourbons becoming extinct , unavailable or price bloated, I find myself under the strong pull of the Dark Side with several Irish Whiskeys and Compass Box Scotch blends.  Help!  Send me some Pappy's or BTAC's.

Definitely OF1920.

 

also

-SAOS 10yr. & 11yr. single barrel bottles  (bunkering the hell outta these).

-Barrel bourbon 006 (rich and delicious)

-JD SB BP (wife still doesn't believe its jack)

-Blanton's Gold from the UK.  WOW!  Never buying U.S. Blanton's again...

JD SD BP surprised me too. I had it blind at a steakhouse in Indy and had to go out and grab a bottle.
