morebourbon85
Seriously? That's crazy. $58 for Blantons and $27 for ER10. Where are you located? Maybe there's a Total Wine. They don't price gouge and maybe they can special order. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
WatchUrSix
There is a Total Wine, but they are always out of the harder to find bourbons. I do keep checking back time to time though. I'm in Upstate SC. Some of these places are ridiculous. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Richdel
Just saw Blanton's at the Delaware Costco for $44.99/750ml. ER at Total Wine in DE is $32.00/750ml. Non-controlled liquor sales state.

They just know how to disguise it so you don't even realize it as you're blinded by their professional merchandising.
BottledInBond
I am really confused by the Willett Pot Still Reserve specifically. The ER10 to a certain extent and the Blantons more so have had allocation issues and are generally considered to be quality pours, and are shown at around 3x MSRP. The Willett is inferior juice in my opinion and the only redeeming quality is that some people think the bottle looks cool, and somehow a retailer thinks it's worth 11x MSRP? I understand stores trying to cash in on the truly limited bottles they get (I won't pay $499 for anything at retail though), but this is just stupid all around. The day I can choose from a bottle of Blanton's and a bottle of Pot Still Reserve and chose the latter at even the same price for each is the day I should just quit drinking whiskey. If you do you lose. The only game you just cannot win is the one you don't play. So: Stay in the game. Be smart, and patient, and choosy, and you can still find a great deal of fine Bourbon at prices that aren't gonna break the bank. Enjoy! ..And, have FUN!!! WatchUrSix
I won't give in. I just got a bottle of Blantons in Asheville,NC for 58$. Headed across town to get a bottle of Stagg Jr for 35$. I'm determined to pay a good prices. I will bend some but not going to get ripped off. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Harry in WashDC
Stagg Jr. for $35? Most stores up here offer it for $99 - where it is gathering dust, mostly.
Richnimrod
Hmmm, around these parts Stagg, Jr, and ECBP never see the shelf. One can usually find Blanton's, however; occasionally at retail.
jaxn slim
$35 for Stagg Jr is insanely cheap. Best I've seen is $45 and max around $100. I'm cleaning the shelves at $35. Dang.
Harry in WashDC
Well, the stores I usually visit only put the Stagg Jr's out one at a time and usually in a cabinet. I've asked if they had more and was told yeah but under the counter and no discounts on volume. Haven't seen an ECBP in awhile - they disappear, I guess, when put in the cabinet. Blanton's has been showing up fairly regularly and in small but multiple bottle groups. A couple of stores have even used it to attract attention by offering it on "sale" at $5 under the usual price. I do have a few (very few) in the bunker but likely will open them only when entertaining.
Hop
Stagg Jr in NC is 49.95 which for most places is a great deal
WatchUrSix
Yeah, I got to the store and they said they misquoted me. It was 49.95. Picked them both up. One to drink and the other for a special occasion. My only problem now is, which one to start with. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
garbanzobean
Stagg Jr is permanently on the shelves here, at least in the $70-$100 range. I rarely see it for less than $60 though, and nowhere near the old MSRP of $40-$45. So assuming your taste buds don't hate it, I think you got a solid deal. Charlutz
Garbanzo - I mostly see it for $60 in our neighborhood. It's worth it at that price for me, but my first bottle was a batch 4 that I loved so I bought a couple more and haven't been looking to stock up since. I will always have a bottle on hand if they maintain the $60 price point and the flavor/proof profile that they've established in the last few batches. BottledInBond
Stagg Jr is available for $46.99 + tax within a mile of my house and I just never buy it. I really should revisit it. I think I still hold a grudge about batch 1, which was crap. ECBP has been $65 lately which I hate but the juice is always good at least.
garbanzobean
I was in the group that really enjoyed batch 1. As a result, I have plenty of Stagg Jr from various batches, since there wasn't much competition for it until recently.
WatchUrSix
Well Stagg Jr did not disappoint. Glad I picked up both bottles How do you know the batch? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
JoeTerp
The proof. Each batch has a slightly different proof.

I know better than to try to proclaim that I know what is good or bad per se. I didn't love batch 1 personally but more power to you if you did. A long time ago I came to terms with the fact that I shouldn't care about whether anyone else agreed with my taste on any specific bottle or not, because I'm generally not buying their drinks and they are not usually buying mine. Like what you like!

Like what you like! Oh no worries! To each his own. I strongly dislike ECBP, EHTBP, and other beloved brands, and love ugly ducklings like Larceny and Bernheim, so my poor taste is well documented. The only thing I think is a shame about how heavily batch 1 of Stagg Jr was panned is that BT responded by making the whiskey much less . . . rugged. But that removed some flavors I enjoyed, as well as some of the charm. I was fine with EHTBP being gentlemanly and statesmanlike (so I could avoid it), while Stagg Jr played the part of GTS' scrappy young brother. I still enjoy Stagg Jr quite a bit, but there was just something about that first batch that really spoke to me. I actually have a bottle of it that I set aside to take on my next outdoor adventure.
